LA....Lower Alabama, I think. The tinfoil confuses
I will be dropping cable tv soon. I watch most of the shows on The Outdoor Channel on Wednesdays, Shooting USA, American Rifleman,Gun Stories, etc. I also watch a good bit of the History Channel and Discovery. What are the best services to stream gun and history shows? Hulu,Netflix,etc...

I'm in process of dumping Dish TV, and so far the PsVue looks like the best bet for streaming. May supplement it with Sling TV, and still save $50/mth using our Roku.

I got rid of dish over a year ago.
The only thing I miss is the Outdoor Channel, especially the Wednesday Night at the Range stuff (or whatever it was/is called).

I have found nothing that compares online. Pursuit streams, but there's only so much whispering one person can handle. Tons of youtube stuff, but I really wish Outdoor Channel would offer streaming in some fashion, either a paid service or like NBC does, with commercials.

We dumped satellite about 5 or 6 years ago and haven't missed it except for some of the nature shows.

We use Netflix but there are hardly any outdoors type shows or movies to rent. It's great for the price though.

Had Hulu off and on but between all the ads, poor playback, and limited selection we dropped it. Plus, none of their content will be free in the very near future.

I wish there was a streaming option for outdoor enthusiasts but anymore it might be a hard sell since it would promote killing and primitivism.

Cut the cable about five years ago. We watch Netflix and Amazon for the most part. I do miss some of the outdoor shows but the savings is great.

Netflix for shows and movies (7.99/mth), local digital antenna for everything else.

Anything beyond that you can find on a Youtube channel, which is where you will find most gun related content.

Cut is cable about five years ago. It's football (college) that I miss the most. But I'll not go back, I've saved 6000$ over the years. I pay for what I watch, but I do not want to pay for the crap on tv that I don't watch!:banghead:

I'll be on that YouTube for sure, thanks for the tip

I had a hard time finding the outdoor channel shows online when I dropped cable. I really don't watch any T.V. anymore and don't miss it either. I just watch youtube videos and the occasional Netflix movie.

I use the DVR to record three shows. I watch college football. I pay $120 per month for that privilege. I also pay $50 a month for internet.
My son has internet only and survives just fine. I have to have my Big Bang, Walking Dead and college football.

I'm envious of you with good internet. Satellite is my only choice other than dial-up, and it leaves a LOT to be desired. Speed isn't too bad, but at 10GB limit a month, video is out of the question. A few hours of video can blow the whole month.

Kodi player

Download kodi player and enjoy free tv and movies. No subscription, no fee, just free. Tvaddons.ag is the website. It will walk you through the setup and everything. You can download to a computer, amazon firestick, apple tv, your smart phone. Almost everything except roku, they are not supported.
You can watch tv based off of networks. If you like HBO shows, they have it. If you like netflix shows, they have it. Search network, show, season, and episode. Easy and free

I dumped cable years ago. Have been using a Roku and have no regrets.
+1 for Roku. I just watched video off the Mosin Nagant Channel.

If you have internet, Roku works. Many free channels, some subscriptions.

I don't miss the cattle trailer deer hunts, or the aquarium fishing shows, but I do miss Shooting USA. You can find plenty stuff on YouTube to keep you occupied. It's not the same but it will do. You can occasionally find clips or full episodes through a Google search.

You are in luck. The outdoor channel is launching a new app that runs on pads, phones, and computers. Soft launch has happened. Formal launch is Sep. all show from current and past seasons plus online shows. Michael Banve on his podcasts has been talking a bunch about it. Cost will be $10 a month. Enter promo code SGO (which is shooting gallery online) and there is some sort of discount for the first month. I'm really excited. I cut the cable cord about 6 pr 7 years ago and not having outdoor channel was my only real complaint as well.

Kodi is great open source software -- we use it to play slide shows of our digital photos and DVR recordings (the DVR setup is not for a computer neophyte), but any "free HBO" etc. is piracy. You maybe can rationalize ripping off Hollywood, but legally youwill be on the low road.

You can get TV tuners that plug into a USB port. They'll play broadcast TV in a window right on your computer. Or probably most TVs newer than our 1995 model.

However, unless you have a really strong signal the USB tuners don't work all that well; they're too small for a proper antenna. Some models have a jack you can connect to a pair of rabbit ears or other external antenna.

People dont seem to know this, but those old giant aluminum TV antenna's that people used to use? They still work perfectly for the digital HD local channels. People are going out and buying these "digital" antenna's, when there is no such thing. An antennae is an antennae. What it picks up depends what is decoding it, in this case, any modern TV.

So, grab those free giant antenna's people think are defunct and are giving away, they work better than most any of the tiny new ones!!!
