Work takes me to NIEHS several times a year. I am a Bullseye shooter and would like to take along my pistols to shoot while I am there for the 3-4 days that I am on site.

I went to go visit but there is a gate to get into. Anyone know about this club?

I stay in one of the hotels in Durham central. Also, is there a better one just to shoot at for my needs?

They state they are primarily a Shot gunning range and the whole process for pistol is a bit of a pain, (as my current club also is, the Isaak Walton League here in Germantown.) (see an excerpt below from the Durham website)

"Unlike the other facilities of the Club, the pistol range is not available to guests or visitors. Except for organized competitions, only club members who have completed the club's safety course are authorized to shoot on this range, and only those members who have off-hours privileges (volunteers) are allowed to bring guests to this range (during "open" hours only). To fund future range improvement, there is a daily use fee for the Pistol Range, equal to one shotgun round. (See above for sliding fee scale.) "

Thanks in advance for advice as to get to shooting close to where I will be staying as easily as possible.

EDIT: or maybe I should just bring my shotgun along instead and learn how to use it as "cross-training" :)
