EAA Witness Match

Recently i've discovered the EAA witness series of pistols and have become interesting in perhaps purchasing one. The one that i like specifically is the witness match, chambered in .40 caliber. Does anyone have any experience with this company/pistol good or bad? How much does this typically cost at a gunshop? Also, is this too big to conceal? I'm guessing that it is, but would just like confirmation either way. Thanks in advance for the help.

I did a bit of searching, but couldn't really come up with too many reviews, so thats why i was curious as to whether anyone on here had any personal experience with the company in general, or specifically that particular model.

I just shot my .40 S&W match model yesterday, I'll try to put up a comparison in a little while. For me it is not a carry gun as it is just too big. But it is the most accurate out of the box gun under $1000 or so. Probably under $1500 actually. It is in my mind the greatest bargain in handguns going, really well finished, excellent fit, very accurate. Mine has about 6-700 rounds through it now without a single failure. My particular pistol is ammo weight sensitive though, with any 180's it shoots 3" groups at 15 yards, with 165's (every brand I've tried) it shoots one hole 10 shot groups.

I have the standard Witness in 9mm. I really like the gun so far. The only complaint I have with the gun is the large rear sight gap. This makes it hard for really accurate shooting past 15 yards. Its a pretty accurate pistol, it just needs sights to maximize its potential.

The customer service at EAA is terrible and do not expect any after sale support from them. You will find several other threads about this problem with EAA on this page and others.

Also depending on where you live finding replacement parts could be very difficult. I have an older version of the witness and the slide has failed. No replacement slides are available so I am replacing the gun. The EAA gunsmith basically said that it was not a supported current model and that replacement parts were not his problem.

From what I've heard, EAA has turned around their CS problem. Hopefully, this is the case.

My Elite Match 40 is the most accurate handgun I own,and that list includes, 3 USP,2 Sig,and several other more expensive guns.Mine was $429 out the door...

Would you consider it to be a gun you could CCW, or are they too large for that?

It is a full size gun, bigger than I would want to carry. A good "duty gun" size.
Buy it to shoot and enjoy, carry for now, and get a nice carry gun later.
We will be GLAD to tell you all about what you need for that.

It's way too big for me to carry,Mike.I just got it for a range gun.I did get to check out a guys steel frame Witness compact,it was carryable size,but it wasn't an Elite Match.I think that by the name alone you can safely assume the Elite Match guns were designed for competition...

I'm with the other guys on carrying. I actually crried mine for a full day. My regular carry gun s a BHP in .40 and it feels downright petite compared tot he Match model. The polymer frame guns (I have a PS model in 9mm) are excellent carry guns. And while they are very accurate for the price they are not close to the Match model.
