EAA Witness Question

Hi folks, I'm new here and would like some info from the EAA Witness experts. I really like the Witness 9MM with the rail in the older style (small frame) with the 4.5" barrel. My ideal witness would be the 9mm small frame with rail in stainless steel. Can anyone tell me if that is made? I have used the new large frame at my range and think the pistol is a little larger than I want.

A pistol from CZ is what you want. I don't think any of the "small frame" Witness pistols had rails. The Witness line is derived from the CZ 75 and while the Witness 45 was what the CZ 97 should have been, IMHO you are better off with a CZ in 9mm or .40S&W, especially if the alternative is the "large frame" Witness.

As far as I know only the "Stock" series and above are in stainless and these are large frame, the "silver" Witness pistols are their "Wonder Finish" which in my experience holds up pretty well.

You might check out https://us.armscor.com/products/ as they make the small frame MAP/MAPP lines which is what I think you might be talking about. It seem Tanfoglio designed both the large and small frame guns. Armscor builds one and EAA handles the other. Armscor however stands behind their guns regardless with the best CS in the business bar none.

You will probably have to go to CZ for an actual stainless gun. EAA markets guns with a finish that looks like stainless but is basically electroless nickle. I have a custom large frame Witness and an Armscor MAP along with a couple of Tanfoglio "Mossad" in standard small frame and compact.
I love them all and think they are a good value BUT I think all things considered CZs are a little better and were I looking for something like the OP wants I would spend the extra money and go that way.

I don't think it exists. I even poked around looking at the canik55, sarsilmaz, and magnum research versions of the gun. You can get a rail, you can get stainless with a cz, but you can't seem to get what you want. I bought an elite match (large frame) and thought it was too big, so I bought henning's thin aluminum grips and it shrank the frame down to what felt right.

Thanks for the replies. I wanted to stay with the Witness because of the price and the fact that I can purchase the .22 and .40 conversion kits and basically get 3 guns. In the communist state of NJ it can take 5-6 months to get a pistol purchase permit so it's great to have the ability to get 3 different calibers for one pistol purchase permit. I do like the CZ but it seems a little too large and the new version of the full size Witness just seems a little too large also. Buds Gun Shop has the small frame Witness P in 9mm for $330 and it has the rail that I want. Maybe I want too many things in 1 gun and I will have to settle for the 9mm Witness P and then get the .22 and .40 conversion kits.

Then the large frame Witness will let you have:

.45ACP, 10m, .38 Super, 9mm, .40S&W, and .22lr

Buy one of the pistols and order the other four conversions (upper and magazine) straight from EAA's web site (although in-stock status might be an issue currently).

Unfortunately you'll have potential magazine issues as I believe all are more than 10 rounds except for the .45ACP which is 10 rounds.

I have one of those polymer small framed witness pistols. I was just shooting it last weekend. It is a nice gun and 10 round mags are available for it need be. I also have cz pistols which I think are a little nicer but they also cost quite a bit more.

Is the Witness P based on the large frame or small? If its small, you might not be able to find OTHER top-ends in additional calibers -- I don't think they're available from EAA any longer. If you're patient, you might be able to find a metal small-framed Witness with or without the conversion kits, and just wait for them, the same way.

You can probably find a CZ in .40 (75B), and an aftermarket conversion barrel in 9mm; then get the Kadet Kit in .22 -- and really be happy. I think Lone Wolf offered that barre, and maybe EFK Firedragon. The Kadet Kit is one of the most accurate of the conversion kits available for any gun. (In my experience, only the Marvel kits for 1911s are better; they are truly outstanding, with their best models simply the best you can find.)

The grip of the large-framed Witness is bigger than the CZ and the small-framed Witness/Tanfoglio guns, but noticeably smaller than the CZ-97 (in .45 ACP).
