Rumor has it that about 75% of Eastern's financial backing has been lost for this show. Rumor also has it that they have quit selling advance tickets. I can not confirm either.

So others know... THIS IS NOT A GUN SHOW. IT IS A SPORTS SHOW... hunting, fishing, golf, boating, guns, etc. It has a very broad theme.

Just checked their site. It says "tickets no longer available online". They're also still listing the guys from Primos and a couple other speakers as being there, even though they've cancelled.

    The boycott worked!

Now, thanks to the boycott, the sportsmans show in Harrisburg is postponed!
This is exactly what needed to happen!

Indeed, I was very happy when I heard this. Its pathetic how they blame the protesters etc and dont see their own mistake.

well, success would have been if they'd reversed the ban and allowed black rifles to be displayed

I don't mind folks sticking to their principles. Reed Exhibition is however a business and as a business they should make decisions that are focused on their bottom line. Canceling or postponing the show indefinitely is a reflection of their bottom line.

The whole deal hurts the Harrisburg PA area financially as this is a much anticipated annual event at the Farm Show Arena.

Cabelas started the stampede. Reed deserved this. The visitors and vendors did not deserve this.

I agree, Reed's had it coming. Perhaps they can use the postponement to "re-think" what matters most to their clientele (besides the vendors it is the law-abiding gun-owner regardless of the type gun preferred).

I am also very pleased that Cabelas and so many others chose to stand by us- they know we, their customers, are their paycheck.

While it was the organizer's right to do what they did, the boycott needed to happen. If they had not infringed then the everyone would be enjoying another great show. Oh well, maybe the next one then? :)

Regardless, we showed that the gun industry does not desire a reduction in the amount of "assault weapons" we have. When someone tries to help the feds reduce our rights, we ostricize them and make it known they will not get our business. While I personally feel we shouldn't divide and conquer between the people of the gun community, we need to stand firm and let everyone know we will not be complacent. This is a win for us.

Excellent. How on Earth a UK based bunch ended up running this show is a mystery, but nobody should be doing business with those people.

I posted my disappointment on their FB page last week and consider this a success. It is time for the industry players to show they are supporters of the Amendment and ALL of its intended purposes. None of this "we support these aspects of gun ownership but not these ones". This is a win and we won't see many more shows pull this stunt.

We need to support those vendors that pulled out, and let them know why.

They make it a point to blame and insult the gun-nuts for this show being canceled, as opposed to it being canceled due to the decision that they made. Apparently they didn't want to proceed with the show because their customers would not be able to enjoy themselves... because of us. Theirs was merely a decision that only affected a small group. This must mean that their decision was the right one, but if it wasn't for this little fringe group of unwashed losers, they could have provided the family enjoyment that they intended to.

Reed needs to be taught a lesson that they can not impose their country's anti-gun stance on us. They are a show provider. They do not dictate to us what constitutes a traditional weapon or a sporting weapon. A better, more constituionally friendly organization, and US based company needs to run the show.
