eBay's silly new policy: Reloading equip. unaffected?

What with the talk of "bullet tips," and the fact that empty brass (?!) is on the Verboten list, I know this is a hard thing to know, but does anyone here have either speculation or inside dope (better ) about whether eBay will continue to allow listings for reloading presses / dies / etc? Those things clearly are not "necessary to allow a gun to fire" (paraphrasing, but something close to that seems to be the guiding criterion wrt what listings they'll allow), but they're sure more important, let's say, than is empty brass (which will no longer be allowed).

I don't care. This was my last straw with Ebays continuing gun hating idiocy. Plenty of other sites out there for used reloading gear, components, ect... without the liberal idiocy.

I deal with Ebay as little as possible and have found the prices on reloading components and gear to be higher than I can buy it from online retailers anyway so ultimately I don't care what they do.

Ebay is out of control

I posted a mount for an M1A after running a search and finding 12 of them on the auction site.

The next morning I got a message that my ad had been pulled because it violated their policies.

So I tried to contact someone about why I was pulled when the other 12 were allowed to continue.

After about 4 days I got an e-mail saying that they DO NOT police their site.
They only pull stuff when another seller alerts them to something that violates their standards.

Thats the biggest crock of S**T I ever heard of.

They are happy to bill and get paid for an item that is banned but they won't police their site.

If I was a lawyer, I'd bring a really BIG suit against them for discrimination.

They can't even control their own content.

Hmmm, I just sold a set of dies on eBay, so I guess those are OK. The only restriction imposed was I could not offer the item for international sale in No. America (Canada, specifically). I also bought some wood loading blocks recently.

It's their site, and they can set whatever rules they want. If you don't like them, don't use the site. No whining....

Back when I was looking for reloading equipment on ebay EVERYTHING that I was interested in ended up selling for more than I could buy it new and in most cases even with shipping it was cheaper to buy new.

Never spend one dime on there and now I have another reason not to even if they do allow reloading equipment, but not those nasty bullet tips.

The new gun "policy" is because their lawyers frightened their
accountants! The new policy will be as arbitrary as everything else
they do. Just another coporate dance.

As you might infer from the term "bullet tips", the policy types at eBay are not gun or reloading savvy.

If some nutcase uses reloaded ammo in a publicized crime, more items will be banned. Its all about public image and relations.

eBay is a California (or Peoples' Republic of California as I like to call it)company and has the requisite anti-gun byass.

I bought most of my reloading tools off eBay and regularly buy other accessories like shoot-n-c targets there. I'll buy elsewhere now for my shooting needs.

I work for eBay and it really irritates me when the liberals make stupid decisions like this. I'm a propellor head type, nothing to do with these silly policies. I escaped the PRK for Arizona 2 years ago and am glad I left. I've taken a dozen co-workers to the range since moving here - kind of a perverse pleasure in spending the lunch hour busting caps while being paid by an anti-gun company!

While I agree that I very rarely shop for reloading equipment there as the prices are too high there have been rare occasions when I've gotten a bargain . . especially with brass auctions that end at wierd times. The thing I'll miss is the ability to SELL my used reloading gear for almost what I paid for it and sometimes for what I did pay for it. It allowed me to upgrade presses twice with next to no outlay in cash and now I feel like a rich man with the equipment I've got!

If there are alternative sites that have the traffic wrt to auctions then I'd love to see them. I have to say that I've been really disappointed the few times I've looked around at Gunbroker and GunsAmerica as they seem to have quite a few auctions but not all that many bids.

I don't know if I buy the comment about them not having a political agenda . ..I'd bet I could spend 15-20 minutes on the site and find things that could expose them to legal liability in the same way that gun-related items could.

I would really love to hear an explanation as to why I can sell off my old reloading equipment for nearly what I paid for it on epay. I used to strain my brain on this one as a simple search on a few of my keywords such as Dillon, etc. would get me to the manufacturers website and show me the retail price of the item. I could then determine what I wanted to pay (including discount) and that would be my max bid. I was hardly ever the high bidder when I went about it this way. If on the other hand I would be willing to pay full or more than full retail for a used item I would get said item.

Yep, I was looking for a 20" smoothbore 12guage barrel with rifle sights for my rem 870 a couple years ago. I saw one on flea bay that was a "bit rusted and dinged from hunting use" It went for $175 plus $25 shipping!!!!
Cabelas had the identical remington barrel brand new for $117 including shipping, and thats where I bought mine.

Many times I have watched items go for more than full retail new. I think there is alot of SHILL bidding on the site jacking up the prices.

There are countless examples of things going for prices more than what a knowledgeable person would pay. And there are just as many examples of things going for prices that are real steals. That's just the way auctions are.

You can only pay too much for an item on Ebay if you are willing to pay too much. It's your own fault if you pay too much for an item if you bid on something without knowing what the Retail price is.

I have sold things on Ebay that went for more than you can buy if new elsewhere and I DID NOT do anything to jack up the price.

All that being said, I'm also angry at Ebay for their gun hating Liberal BS and will probably do little business with through them in the future.

What happens is that ebay does not "police" their own site, but sellers will knowingly report your auction to ebay in order to get it taken down--then they have less competition from sellers and can get more for their stuff.

I , for one, will miss them. I bought my brass and bullets from ebay, and generally got way better deals than other websites. Example: my last brass purchase was 2600 pcs of .40 S&W brass at 1.8 cents each, and 1800 bullets at 6 cents each for Ranier plated. There were definitely non-gun people selling some components at very good prices.

I wonder if this is an opportunity to start an auction site devoted to selling any gun item that doesn't require an FFL to transfer. Essentially, take all that eBay business and put it in a gun-friendly environment?

I don't mind their new policy. It has given me a great business opportunity. As most have said it is their right to decide what goes on their site and as others have mention, it is my right to not use them anymore and I am going to exercise that right. I had more than enough people on my forum ask me if I would start a new auction site with the same liberal policies I have on my forum and I have to concede that the suggestion has intrigued me enough that I am putting together a business proposal now so I can get the funding to get it started. I'm sure it will be rough going at first an may never take off but at least I won't have to wonder what if...
