My setup is coming together more and more. I just got the Leatherman Rebar multitool the other day so figured I’d share my work in progress. Probably grab a new pen soon and a few other items. But here is my “pocket dump” on EDC carry if you will-oh and I added links to each item of anyone wants to see or get them. See attached pic! D61040FD-E742-4D90-A379-967266C7DF29.jpeg

Kore nylon belt with X5 buckle:

Springfield XD with Tier 1 tactical holster

Airo Collective Slim leather wallet

Randolph Aviator sunglasses

Leatherman REBAR multi tool

Airomat watch (from Watch Gang)

Might go with Everyman for the pen. Not sure if others have used those before.

Xd seemed heavy on a belt to me.

Suggest OC spray.

No light? Or use your phone?

Multi tools are nice, but I like a blade that i can deploy quickly. Ken onion leek is light and handy and still has very solid blade lock up after 3 years of daily carry and some generous abuse in the woods. It's cut meat and veggies as well as cordage and rope. Sharpens easily and stays sharp for awhile.

Probably add a lighter. I carry a mini bic even after quitting smoking years ago. Handy for the weight cost in pocket.

I like what you got there. I am a huge fan of the Springfield XD. It was the first pistol I ever purchased, and one I will never sell.

I typically only EDC a watch, my wallet, phone, gun, one reload, and a folding knife. I use to EDC pepper spray. I probably should grab another small can to affix to my keychain..

I don't like to have my pockets cluttered with too much junk.

My Army unit mandated we carry a way to start fire in case we ever were in a survival situation. Which has happened. A lot of guys carried either a Bic or Zippo lighter. That habit stayed with me. Recently my coworker broke my lighter when I left it at work. It was time to finally upgrade and ditch the butane fuel. I got a rechargeable arc lighter with a flashlight in the bottom. Great way to fill 2 EDC needs at once.

I just do the small Keychain type mace you generally see for around 10 dollars. Gives you another option

Looks good so far, just as an aside, I carry a spare magazine in a paddle setup and usually a streamlight with a lighter in a pocket

I haven't done a pocket dump in a while.....

This is my casual/ travel pocket dump.
I have a different set of stuff for workdays.
13+1 Hellcat in DeSantis Softuk
Streamlight microstream
Inkpen
Cobratech OTF knife
Crappy old worn-out billfold
I have carried a bandana daily since I was a schoolboy.
I forgot to put my cheap digital watch in the picture. I know I could do without it and just check my cellphone for the time....but I would look a pretty big hole in my arm.

I don't carry a reload on me....I have spare mags in all my vehicles.

I also slip a Fitbit or similar device into the mix to encourage reaching a daily goal of steps.

An XD is this day and age is now old school (I still remember when SA acquired the import rights for 'em). But overall, not a bad carry rig. I personally would ditch the kydex IWB holster simply because I find them uncomfortable. I still prefer leather OWB holsters. I have an original IM Metal HS2000 along with a first year production SA XD-45. Good guns for the most part.

I like to have at least 3 levels of response. An impact device (cane, tactical pen, where legal a baton like the asp, a Faststrike). A pepper spray. A firearm. And a blade of the maximum legal length as a backup. This will cover anything from an aggressive dog, a panhandler demanding money, a drunk teenager hassling a “gray hair”, a carjacker.
Never have lethal force, or fists as your only response to an aggressor.
My EDC is a hickory cane, a canister of Saber Red, Shield 9mm, and my Gerber Applegate/Fairbairn auto knife.

My EDC isn't always the same (one, I can't carry a firearm, pepper spray or a knife at work since I'm a teacher, plus there are some things I switch depending on my mood), but here it goes.

True always EDC:
  • Mitchell Leather front pocket money clip/wallet. Very compact. (Left front pocket)
  • Keys (of course), I tend to keep them in my pockets all day, even at home, so I never forget them. (Left front pocket)
  • Smartphone (Samsung S22) with light app (right front pocket, unless I'm carrying a back up gun in that pocket, then left front)
  • Streamlight 66608 250 lumen pocket flashlight (left front pocket)
  • Misc. stuff in my front left pocket (Kleenex, hand sanitizer, Advil, pen), some of these get dropped or moved when I carry a BUG in a pocket holster in that pocket.
  • A watch from my collection of Victorinox, Seiko, Orient and Citizen watches
  • My Fitbit Charge 5 on my other wrist
  • I just got my first tactical pen, though I haven't yet started carrying it. Since it is a pen first, I think it doesn't fall under the laws against carrying weapons in a school.
  • Kore Essentials leather gun belt (recently added a nylon belt for more casual dress as well)

EDC when not at work:
  • A pocket knife from my collection of folding knives
  • Until a few years ago I carried pepper spray, and I finally replaced it (I've meant to for a while, but now that I can CCW here in MD it moved it to the front burner, I want something for self defense situations that don't require deadly force)
CCW:
MD only recently went effectively shall-issue due to Bruen, and they take months to process your application (mine was just over 60 days). I only got my permit just over a week ago. As I suspected, my ideas around my carry guns are evolving from when it was an occasional thing (about once a month) on my UT non-resident permit when out of state. My most common carry so far is a pair of revolvers (either a 5 shot Taurus 85CH or 6 shot Colt King Cobra IWB and a 6 shot Taurus 856 in my pocket, though I've experimented with the 856 weak side IWB), followed closely by my SIG P365. I've long preferred higher capacity when carrying out of state, but I haven't yet carried my CZ PCR or Glock 19 now that I've headed out after work with my CCW nearly every day this week. I'm thinking I'm going to switch off a lot less than I thought, not so much due to the larger guns being all that hard to carry, but I'm keeping my carry guns in quick access safes loaded and ready to go, and I don't want to be constantly loading and unloading mags to prep a different gun (and if I'm not going to switch between larger and smaller guns as much due to circumstances, I'll keep the smaller guns that are concealable in more situations ready to go).

Right now I have everything on the first list, and my SIG P365 (I haven't grabbed a knife or pepper spray yet since I haven't yet left the house).

Sig P239 357 SIG Appendix (home made holster)
Two extra mags. Back pocket. (Homemade)
Wallet.
Creds and badge.
Peak LED light with Tritium Fob.
ASP Pepper spray Kubaton.
SAK Tinker.
Homemade belt.
Watch.

Cell phone and keys.

But. I mix and match a little. Just in town, it might be a Ruger SP101 and a speedloader.

No OC. No flashlight. There’s another of those on my keychain.

If I’m walking around in Vegas, I always carry a water bottle too.

I work from home so my usual EDC is, well, nothing. I have a few goodies stashed here and there so they are within easy reach but I don't carry anything on my person while in the house.

In those instances where I leave home for typical errands I'm a minimalist. Ruger LCP Custom in a pocket holster, Kershaw Cryo folding knife, wallet, cellphone and keys with a tiny Maglite flashlight on the keychain. That's it. I'm surrounded by clocks (on my phone, truck dashboard, computer, stove, microwave, Cable Box, etc) so I see no need to wear a watch and haven't owned a watch in decades.

If I'm going for a walk in the woods I generally carry a larger firearm and will clip a samll zippered Maxpedition pouch onto my belt. I keep that pouch on a carabiner clipped to the headrest in my truck. Inside that is a fire kit, larger but still small flashlight, whistle, compass and emergency rain poncho.

If I'm traveling for business, that means I probably flew there so that means no firearm and depending on the city, county or state, I might not even be carrying a knife. I'm not fond of those assignments but hey, I'm just a civilian, not James Bond or John Wick.

I've got various goodies stashed in my truck, including a minimalist Get Home bag with more stuff in it but I've never seen the need to carry all that stuff on my body.

Light is a must add for sure. I’m looking into that next. What lighter do you like or just bic?

I've carried a lot of different lighters and used to collect them. There are a lot of fancy options out there.

For my needs, i just use a bic or mini bic. I hike and sped a lot of time pretty far out there. Can't beat them for weight. They are also very reliable.

If something happens to the fuel supply, you still have a basic flint /wheel that will throw sparks. Not a bad idea to practice making a fire that way, too.

Cheap light and reliable. Made in the USA (last time I checked). I think that still matters. I also like buck knives and estwing hatchets!

Good to have options. I also wear a leather cordage bracelet from wahoo survival, and a fire starting necklace. Very light, they don't look like survival items. A little piece of mind on overnight hikes. Bits and cheap and light enough to keep one in pocket, one stashed in the waterproof park of your bag etc.

Works for me but there are positives to the other recommendations, these aren't windproof and can't be recharged on your laptop etc ...

That’s a lot of change. You must like jangly pockets.

Makes me think of my dad when I was growing up, could hear him from the other floors of the house jangling with every step.

My pants are just tight enough that there is not much room to jangle. Or maybe it's just that the loud places I tend to work at covers up the sound? o_O

I seem to always need some spare change when I'm working a job without a lunch break, so I'll hit a customer's vending machines. Seems like more and more vending machines are moving away from cash to card payments, though.
