So I was hanging out with some friends and one of em was like "check out this guys gun collection". He had pictures of his gun collection stored on his harddrive. Pretty good stuff, RRA AR15 in A2 config, Texas Brigade Armory rem 700 with a 308 cal kreiger barrel with a Leopould mk 4 M1 scope, sig handgun. Pretty Nice stuff right? My BS meter was kinda humming because he called his RRA an M16, a faux paus few real gunnies will commit. Later on it started screaming when he said "that rifle(the tactical rifle) will do 1/4" groups a 100 yds with black hills 168 moly coated match ammo." Impressive I thought. "Out to 1000 yards the groups will open up to 5 inches at 1k". Uh huh. 5 inch groups at 1k shooting factory 308...Riiiiiiiight. I keep my mouth shut of course. So I ask him if he does any pistol practice, "ya, I mainly like doing CQB-type stuff." BEAR IN MIND, EARLY I ASKED HIM IF HE HAD A HOLSTER "No, just the box it came in." Who do you know that has ever done "practical/tactical" work and doesn't have a holster? I still don't say anything. I invited him to a local IPSC match, but alas he can't go, because his guns are all down in San Luis Obisbo.
Correct me if I'm wrong but... The guns are his dad's...he's full of it...off a bench he couldn't hit the broad side of a ram at 200 yards.

Keep in mind the whole time, I was VERY polite and didn't inform him that I thought he was totally BS'ing.

Questions? Thoughts? Comments?

Just had to get that off my chest.

I have no idea what the deal with this guy is. BUT, i have seen more than a few airsoft weapons and suspicious duplicate photos being represented as being weapons owned by individuals. On some forums, communities status is determined by the value of one's collection of firearms.

Oh and one other thing. If I REALLY owned 5 grand in really nice guns, I wouldn't have the rotting 229 miles away in San Luis Obispo. When you need guns... you need em now right?!? :)

I once saw someone fly into an absolute rage at the mere insinuation that some of his precious gun collection could possibly be fake airsofts. It was quite a thing to behold.

(And, yes, they were airsofts.)

Love the thread title!:D Yeah, I'd say the BS meter about pegged out on that one. Calling such people out is a lot of fun, particularly when in conjuction with exposing false service claims. I have a friend who constantly BS's gals at the bars (Ironically, he doesn't drink) that he was a 'Nam vet.(He was 14 when Saigon fell. ) I'm waiting to hear that some real 'Nam vet killed him in a bar fight. :uhoh: He like to flash his Dad's PD badge around, too. :scrutiny: (His Dad passed on some years ago.)
