I already have some double stack 32s but the more new 32s hitting the market the better.

Probably a really thin double stack 9mm a la the SIG 365XL or Glock 48. They seem to be all the rage right now so I'm sure Kel-tec wants in on that market.

I am happy with my present P32. I am not into the high count magazines like the new fad going on.

This is exactly what it will be because the P365 and Glock 48 pistols are the hottest selling pistols right now during a lull period of gun sales. From the looks of it, it appears this pistol may have a DA/SA trigger. I'm hoping it will be DA/SA and will have a concealed hammer.

The idea that Kel Tec is making a double stack .32 is ludicrous from a business perspective. Just because a bunch of used full size Beretta .32's have come in to the US recently doesn't mean there's a demand for a full size .32 pistol; people are buying those Beretta's for the low price and good quality, nothing more.

While it's great to see more options for the 1.5x stack pistols, I'm getting anxious that this is all the manufacturers are going to be looking at designing and producing when there are other pistols that should be getting made like 30 round quad stack .22's (like the CP33), 10mm pistols, polymer frame DA/SA's, and .32 pocket pistols to give people a lower recoil, longer lasting option compared to the .380 pocket pistols that beat those tiny guns to death.

    One thing to mention:

Kel Tec is in Cocoa, FL, just a few miles west of Cape Canaveral, which is where Hurricane Dorian is likely to make landfall with 150 mph winds.

There's no chance Kel Tec will be announcing what this new pistol is Friday, the Kel Tec facility is likely going to be obliterated.

Kel Tec firearms may well become collector's items soon.

I'd buy one of those Berettas myself, but I like to have 5 mags for every pistol and mags for those aren't cheap.

If you paid current full price would you buy the four extra magazines?

So they announce, but starting with a teaser, and 2-4 years later we can expect it to materialize?

I won't buy it if I can't have five mags minimum.

Zoom in on that picture, and you can make out the safety, Euro-style magazine release, and PMR-style slide/bolt. Also, the lettering on it says "P17 .22LR". So, the magazine capacity is going to be 17 rounds. It seems a little odd to release another rimfire right after CP33, but if this is their thing now, what can we say.

I guess we can continue to be excited for the .45 Auto offering from SCCY that Joe Roebuck promised in an interview about CPX-3.

I zoomed in and saw the P17 and .22 LR, but I'm not seeing a European mag release, I see a standard mag release, but it's ambidextrous.

So it's a PMR30 in .22 LR. I've asked before why Kel Tec didn't make a .22 LR PMR30 before and the answer was something like the mag would have to be curved for some reason and couldn't hold many rounds.

This is definitely very odd and I don't see what Kel Tec is bringing to the market that's different than what else is already available. Unless this P17 costs $200, it's not much different than the Ruger SR22, but the mag capacity is higher. The issue there is there are baseplates available for the SR22 that turn the 10 rd mags into 15 rd mags, just no last round hold open. Also, the SR22 is a DA/SA while this Kel Tec will likely be like other Kel Tec pistols with the "Dingle" action that uses a partially cocked hammer that cocks to full position during the trigger pull.

If Chad at Kel Tec is reading this, I never asked for this and I have no idea who did.

Ok I see the mag release now. Ugh what a let down. The guess the only upside is that its not a 9mm.

Copying a Ruger design would be payback, since Ruger virtually copied one of their designs in the LCP.

That's nice but has nothing to do with the question I asked.

If you paid $700 instead of $200 for the pistol would you buy the spare $48.00 magazines?

The more I see and hear about this P17, the more stupid I think it is.

Meh - that looks mildly interesting. To me .22LR is a target practice round so short compact guns aren't really all that, but as a trainer pistol to get people used to that form factor before stepping up to a bigger gun this looks decent. Mag release doesn't bother me - I don't think I've ever been shooting a .22 where reload times mattered so even a heel release would be fine IMHO.

Only thing is for me this would need to be cheap. Close to $150-175-ish. More than that and a Ruger SR22, Buckmark, or other well proven design is just too hard to not jump on.

Wow, I like it! Looks like a great trainer. Have been looking to replace my SR22, this might be the one. The only con for me, is the square trigger guard. Never have liked them.

From KTOG thread the specs are supposed to be.
    • 4" barrel
    • 14 oz loaded weight
    • 16 round mags
    • 3 mags as part of the package
    • Threaded barrel
    • Rail
    • Ambi safety
    • Ambi mag release
    • Fiber optic front
    • adjustable rear sight
I think it could be an interesting plinker or woods bumming pistol. Maybe an option for the recoil shy.

I do not train with a 22.cal short barrel as a step up, I use them for fast point and shoot skills. I love them for training and fun. Sure can do a lot of shooting compared to the 9mm I shoot by the thousands each month. Forget a target pistol. I have Pellet guns I can use for that. Use to target shoot a lot for years. Gave it up, Like faster shooting more, especially since I started to carry a decade ago. I like a gun about the same size and weight. The Keltec already has my interest. Hope they come onto the market soon.

Would probably make for a decent little plinker. Hope they can keep it reasonably priced.
