Or tries to, anyway. It's quite a story so far. And it offers a look into what's essentially another world, for most of us.

“Emily gets her gun” is a new series following senior editor Emily Miller as she legally tries to get her hands on a gun in the nation’s capital.

It's a neat series. I still find it stupid as to just how hard the DC gun laws are.

I like to think of myself as a pretty reasonable guy, but this series makes me absolutely hopping furious.

How could people sworn to uphold the Constitution drag it through the mud like that?

Very interesting article. Makes me angry to see politicians and bureaucrats basically stonewalling a Supreme Court
ruling. I hate to say it, but my advise for Ms. Miller would be one word: Move.

Nice-looking lady. I hope she gets her gun. Things like this make me feel fortunate to live in a free state.

I love real media coverage. I'm glad I subscribe to The Washington Times; you get the rest of the story.

and that's exactly what the corrupt anti-gun politicians and bureaucrats in DC want her to do.......move.

Supposed Mr. Heller, Mrs. Parker and Mr. McDonald had simply moved?

Very very cool. I'm surprised that her editor is letting her do this.

If it were The Washington Post, I would agree with you. If you've ever read the times you wouldn't be surprised. It is a GREAT paper!

The stories of her efforts so far are great. My guess is that by the end of this drama, she could even be subpoenaed as a witness for the next trial going forward.

DC is going to regret this; the latest ruling was 2-1 for their limitations, and thus opens the way for a full appeals bench to review it. I can only hope judges see these stories before the case is reviewed.

    Great series.
I bought a gun in CA back in the late 90's and it wasn't this difficult. I'm so glad I've lived in gun friendly states ever since. I live 2 hours from DC and that's still too close.

She has some courage! She is not caving in and moving to a more firearms friendly place as most would. She is also helping the others on the fence with simplifying the process to get a legal firearm. Another person in the good fight. It seem we all are taking baby steps in the process but at least they are steps FOWARD.:)

My theory is they're trying to build an elite group of tough nuts who survived being unarmed and victimized for their entire lives. They will then be taken by the city and turned into SWAT Cops.

Unless you live and vote in DC, this is the doings of DC City Council and the Mayors office, not Congress. Congress (at least the House) has actually made rumblings of intervening unless DC govt got its butt off the pot in the wake of the Court ruling.

OTOH, you'll likely find higher IQs - and greater ethics - in any of the animal habitats at the National Zoo than in any of our illustrious government bodies mentioned above...

This is rediculous. The Capitol city of the FREE WORLD:banghead:.

When I want a gun, I go to the nearest gun shop or friendly neighborhood pawn broker and BUY ONE. Then again, I live in a free state.

Step 1: Drive half an hour to Virginia.

    Step 2: Buy gun.

Step 3: Drive half an hour back home.

Or is it illegal to purchase a firearm in Virginia if you don't live there?

It is. And that's not restricted to only D.C. and Virginia; the same is true for any two states you can mention. You can buy the handgun in a non-resident state, but it must be transferred to an FFL in your state for you to take possession of it.
