Has anyone been to the Encino division of the King Ranch? I am being interviewed soon for a hunting guide position there, anyone have memories/experiences of there that they feel like sharing? Just trying to learn a little more about the place before I head down there for the interview. :D

Not familiar with the divisions, but that particular one might be near the little town of Encinal. Brush country. Gently rolling--which is the case for most of the King Ranch. Lotsa mesquite and prickly pear. I dunno how much improved pasture is there.

I've only driven through on the way to Brownsville, and have motor-boated down the Intracoastal Waterway on the Gulf side.

I've been down to the land cut a few times past the King duck hunting Padre. BIG. I've seen nilgai along the bank there, before, and coyote on the ranch. Place is LOADED with game, but it's out of my price range. I keep playin' the lotto.

Hope you get it, be a fun job. I should find a duck guide job somewhere. That's my slack season in the shop, grass ain't growin' and lawnmowers don't need repairin'. I usually hunt on my own. Duck guides around here, though, use boats and are coast guard captain rated. Too much BS to mess with.
