Endshake Repair Question

I am thinking about installing a bushing on a revolver with .005 endshake. However, the cylinder gap on this gun varies from .006-.007. If I do not square up the yoke but still install the bushing, what result would occur?

The repair probably won't last as many years as a proper "fix".

Grease the bushing when you install it, and it'll last pretty well.

Is it possible to give a very general round count for such a fix to last?

10,000 rounds of .38s?

There's no way to give a round count due to differences in the gun and the ammo.

One factor is how uneven the end of the yoke shaft is.
It should last a long time, but not AS long as a properly done job.
When the end shake again becomes out of spec, then you know it's time for a fix.

How hard is it to even the end of the yoke? I assume it is a job best left to a gunsmith.

Easy as pie with the $50 tool from brownells.

The tool to use is a special cutter that has a guide stud that fits into the shaft hole to keep the cutter perfectly square.
