I have a Ishapor Enfield .308 caliber. Is it the same design as the Lee Enfields? Can I get an instruction book on the MK4 and use it to take this one apart to clean? It's still got the cosmoline on it and I need to do a complete tear down on it.

It is very close to an SMLE. I won't say that they are the exact same, but from what I have seen they are damn close. I do know that a .303 SMLE mag will fit an Ishapore 308, and that the mechanisms on them look very similar. As I said, I don't know about actual parts compatiblity, but I would look for an SMLE manual over a No. 4 manual.

AFAIK, the 2A was a redesign of the Mk1No3 and not the Mk4No1. If you need help with the 2A, get thee to the Surplus Rifles SMLE pages and start there. It should at least get you in the ballpark.

An Ishy is a variant of the No.1, Mk III and; I believe; is identified as a No.1, Mk III 2A. The magazine is unique to this weapon and I do not believe that a No. 4 .303 magazine would fit nor operate.
