Engraved ammo cans

Pretty cool! Especially if he offers custom engraving for those where his marketed ones don't quite meet their needs.

I hope he does well at this.

For me, a label maker meets my needs for contents. But I can see where I wouldn't mind a more permanent engraving...like "Range" or "Cleaning".

So you agree label is better, or you worried someone will steal your cans and sell on the black market?

‘I like the engraving. I would say for anything but the what’s in the can. They frequently change contents. For cool designs yes. Not worried about someone stealing, if they need it that bad, they can have it, label and all.

I don't think it looks good checking a box. If you wanted to order them with the caliber you wanted, ok. But I don't like all the boxes, and could as easily make a label or tape and sharpie.

At least it's making better use of his fiber laser than just burning Stanley cups all day...

I burn a lot of my reloading gear - super handy for quick identification, and more permanence than stickers or marker - and conveniently mixes with markers which can be wiped away with IPA, leaving the lasered references behind.

Why is this a concern?

The labels I use, nothing specials, are used inside and outside, last for years. I just took out one that has been outside 2012. But even if they were to fall off, is it a big deal? For me it just a quick way to know which one to grab.

The laser etch for a template remains permanent - for example, load data info such as bullet, brass, powder, charge weight, primer, date loaded - which can be in-filled with marker, which can be easily wiped away with IPA and replaced with new data if the load stored in the can is ever changed.

It would take an effort to wipe away. Do you have people wiping your ammo cleans ? I just don't get the concern. Someone would have to make an effort to do this.

Just this week I removed a piece of equipement outdoors that I put in 2012 and the label was still on there. Myself I would some kind of note or label in the can too. A sharpie note sure isn't coming off either.

If I owned an engraver maybe I would use it. I am not against it, but I sure dont see the concern either of labeling in all the other ways.

For me the labels are just for quick reference so I don't have to open the can.

You're tilting windmills here.

Nobody has said anything about black market thieves or anyone wiping anything.

Cans last longer than the ammo stored in them, so when I use up a certain load, I change the label. I can - me, the owner, not some black market pirate - wipe away the data which was written in marker, leaving behind the etched template ready to be refilled with new data for the new contents.

I don't want your stickers - you need to get over it.
