I recently got a used Tavor SAR in trade along w/ its used EOTech 516 (I think, it is a discontinued model, and unmarked due to cerakoated(sp?) finish in Tan/FDE to match rifle.

Got a smokin deal on it, and included a Primary Arms magnifier; the EOTech was worth it even w/o the magnifier. Is the EOTech 516 and magnifier a good way 2 go?

Also, If I get another Tavor, or choose to use traditional hunting style scope, what would b a good choice? I'm considering a 2-7X33 Redfield Revolution to keep it light and sleek.

Advice?

I figured out prior concern about magnifier swing mount; thre is a spring you have to push in hard to free it up so it will swing. Good to go on that.

But still would like to know what scope (glass) would be good to mount on a Tavor as well, such as a low-mid range magnification scope. Good options?
I'd like at least 7x magnification for 200 yard shots on hogs, etc.

FL-NC: even if the EOTech is second hand and i bought it used?

Also, it's not that I don't like the EOTech, I just want 2 Tavors.

I have come around pretty hard to the 1-4x or 1-6X illuminated reticle variable scope on a "general purpose" 5.56 rifle.

Inside of 50m you lose a little speed to a red dot like your EoTech or an Aimpoint, but they are still pretty quick, and they can stretch out for precise shots to 500m or so with just a twist of the dial. I think that kind of optic would be great on a Tavor.

Exactly which one will depend on your budget and what kind of reticle you like. I got to shoot a friends, and I sure would like to have a VCOG. Or failing that a Leupold Mk 6 1-6x

Gotcha FL-NC;)

Thanks for advice on 1X6 that sounds good. Either that or 2x7.

How important do u think the illuminated reticle is?

A good illuminated reticle let's the scope fake being a red dot on 1 power. Helps get back some of the close range speed you lose by looking through a tube. I think it's an important part of the package to make the scope versatile .

What dogmush said- I have a 1.5-8. The red dot thing works best if its a 1x or 1.5. All my deer rifles have an illuminated reticle for late afternoon- the sun will be up (legal shooting time) but in a thick woodline, the reticle will start to disappear.

I have a Trijicon AGOG 3.5X on my Tavor, everyone that shoots it loves it, especially when suppressed.
