I carried my SAA for quite a while (it was all I had) and even had to draw it in defense once.
I'm very confident in my ability to use it, but my better judgement has led me to switch to my 1911 as my standard carry piece.

Anyone else ever used a single action as an EDC?

Yep, back in the early 1980's I carried a SBH. It was heavy and always getting in the way, but I certainly felt some security with a 44 mag. hanging off my hip.

Many years back, the only handgun I had was (IIRC) a CVA replica of the "1858 Army Remington"

Yes...you read that right...A Blackpowder SA revolver. only had to present it ONCE...You shoulda seen that miscreant's eyes go from venomous narrow slits to Serving Platter size in about 2 seconds when he realized he brought a knife to a gunfight...

The first handgun I ever bought was a Stainless 7 1/2" Super Blackhawk... I carried it in an Uncle Mikes vertical shoulder holster.

NEVER felt under gunned lugging around 6rnds of 44 Mag.

Ha! My first "carry piece" was also an 1858 remington. It did make an impression on people.

Only while hunting/camping though it was my 'HD" gun for a brief while. 44 Mag Vaquero 7.5 inch glssy stainless isn't really a CCW piece to me.

Yes I have.

First staring in 1962 with a Ruger .357 flat-top Blackhawk.

I still carry a .45 Colt SAA occasionally.

I do not feel I would be at any disadvantage at all if I had to use it to defend my life.

Most gansta gang bangers would soil their baggy pants if they ever looked down the wrong end of a cocked Colt .45 SAA up close & personal.
Especially if somebody who had been shooting them for 50+ years was on the right end of it.

Occasionally, here on the homestead. Rarely when out and about, though I have laid one on the seat when traveling in sketchy areas to avoid having to fiddle with my belt pistol.

I try to avoid sketchy areas these days. Used to have need to go there to the only plumbing supply within a hundred miles that still carried bar solder, but I found another source...so that ended.

I used to carry a short .41 Blackhawk back in the day when I rambled around in the wilderness. Too old and stove up for that foolishness now, but I still have that old Blackhawk, and wouldn't feel at all under armed with it. I worked with it a lot, and got pretty good at short range snap shooting, plus I know exactly where it shoots out to 50 yards with my go-to handload.

While I carried several guns, none ever got more attention than when I brought back a Sears 7.5 HP Boat motor with a Ruger 44Mag SBH in my belt after it failed me and I paddled miles to the landing! I was given an up-graded recondiioned unit-which worked100% on the spot!

I'm not fast enough to trust a single action for defense. I'll just stick with the simple guns where I just have to pull the trigger.

carried my 7 1/2" super blackhawk in a cowboy rig once. only way i could figure to conceal it was to wear a duster; and it worked just fine. if i were to carry a SA on a regular basis, i think i would go to about a 4" .357 in a high ride OWB holster. honestly i wouldnt feel at all undergunned.
