    I did today. Got tired of keeping my cleaning stuff and random accessories in lame shoebox, so I made a storage box out of a 7.62x54R ammo crate.

    Spend $2.41 at the Depot on hinges and cut up an old yoga mat to line the inside of it. No, it wasn't my yoga mat, it was the old lady's. :p

    Put all of my accessories & stuff in the spam can.

    Ever do something similar?

    (yes, I saw the Mosin crate table thing from Arf)

    Pretty neat !

    I'll probably do this also when I buy my next crate of Mosin ammo. Thanks for the idea.

    Made battery boxes out of 30 cal cans. Used a mortar can for a wood pellet hopper on a smoker.

    Thought about using a small rifle cartridge holder or a pellet tin as a pocket kit. Not a survival kit per-se, just something to keep useful stuff organized in my pocket. So far happy with my altoids smalls. Long as I got toothpicks and duct tape I'm good for work.

    When I saw you post I was thinking a nice little box for my car to keep my first aid stuff in, but I prefer having everything packed in a bigger tupperware.

    I turned a grenade crate into a pea garden. We had some combat camera guys show up when we were going through a breaching course that had built lexan covers for ammo cans and would place their cameras inside the cans so that they could place them next to the doors we were breaching to get good looking video.

    Funny and only somewhat related story.... I was knocking down a wall in a town in northern Iraq and was about to pull the fuse ignitor when out of NOWHERE a combat cameraman shows up and asked if I had clearance to blow the wall. Both of us being Sergeants, I smiled, pulled the ignitor and said "I sure hope so" and started running. He caught up with my team on the rooftop that we were heading back to.

    Yes, I did have clearance. :)

    I looked at a possible house purchase not far from me. Part of the house and the entire garage were made of complete wooden ammo boxes stacked like bricks for the walls.

    That's how my cleaning supplies are stored, too.
    Not mine, but one of the guys that goes to my school rides a bike there. He has one of those bag racks in the back, and has mounted cans to the side of it. I hope he used rubber washers or something on the bolts, because something that looks so cool deserves to be waterproof.

    I used the top off of a 7.62x54R can to make a damper for my wood burning stove, it has worked great for two years now.

    That certainly is neat, especially when I know of a LGS that has a couple of those crates. Thanks for the curio table idea.

    Some years back I turned a couple 50 cal ammo cans into lock boxes.
    I gave one to a friend for a safe place to keep his couple handguns when their boy was very young.

    I drilled holes in the bottom of the can to bolt it in place.

    I've used them for locking storage in the jeep for years. Drill a couple of holes in the bottom. Weld nuts to the bed and bolt them down. Made locks similar to what m2carbine did, but used the round post type latches so they fit right in the existing hole.

    My son is in the Navy and I went on a Tiger Cruise on the USS Nimitz a few years back. He was keeping his cigars in an old coffee can with a wet cloth to keep them fresh. He gave me an old Signal Flare Can, the grey ones with the 4 clamps to keep the lid water tight. I brought it home and installed Spanish Cedar in it on all 6 sides. I filled it up and sent it back to him so they could enjoy a fresh smoke whenever possible. It worked so good I did the same to and old 30 cal. box for myself. They made great humidor's.

    Yoga mat?

    Sweat?

    Sweat = salt.

    Salt = rust.

    Did you wash the yoga mat piece first?

    I got a BSA sight for something recently and it was in a tiny little miniature ammo box. Haven't decided what to do with it yet. That's a .223 Rem round for scaling.

    It was new and unused in its' original box. Like many other things, old lady lost interest in the yoga thing and just threw the mat in basement storage. Was gonna sell it on eBay, but it's not worth anything.

    I don't have any pictures...

    Use the 50 cal cans for battery storage to run game cameras and feeder lights

    Had 2 50 cal cans mounted on the atv racks for storage, since changed over to milk crates and a tool box

    One fellow built a FLIR setup and used a 50 cal can for the housing on another forum

    Have enough 30 cal cans around to build the outer walls of a house. They get used for everything from ammo, to mini-survivalist kits that can be tossed in the vehicles or boat on short notice.

    I've got one of those plastic trays the ammo sits in when you buy 50 round boxes keeping my grill level right now.
