I used to carry my CZ PCR as my EDC. I am a frequent shooter as well, so "shootability" is important to me as well as carry comfort. For the last 14 months or so, I've been on this binge to find the perfect carry gun. I've been through cycles of PPS to P99C to P99 to 642 to 1911 VBOB to G26 to Colt LWT Commander, to PPS again to HKP30sk to PPS again and so on....... All great guns. Nothing wrong with a single one of them. On a whim, I brought out my old PCR. Put it on my belt yesterday and took it to the range today. Oh man, why did I ever put this thing back in the safe? I honestly have no other defensive weapon that stays on target so well. Can't wait until my Rami BD comes in! Oh wait....did I just do it again?:banghead:

Yup.

For many years, I had forgotten how much I liked my CA Target Bulldog.

Then, a couple years ago I was plagued by Mexican Greys ghosting my Rottweiler up in the mountains while she was "in heat".

I really didn't want to take a micro/mini but didn't feel like strapping anything heavy either when we'd go hiking with the dogs.

The old .44 fit the bill sweetly and has been used several times a year since then.

Light, hardhitting, accurate and a fast re-load. All these slipped my mind as newers and pretiers came along.

Todd.

Yesterday I pulled out my Ruger Old Army, given to me by dad when I finished my apprenticeship. Building a house, kids in sports and a lot of overtime pretty much finished my black powder shooting. (used to go through a keg or so a year, almost all in competition). Saw a buy on conversion cylinders, remembered how much I enjoyed that ROA so I ordered one from Midway. Two days. Dug the Ruger out of the vault, dropped out the old cylinder and in went the new. .002" barrel/cylinder gap, aligns perfectly. Dug out a bag of new 45 colt brass, loaded up 20 rounds of "cowboy" level loads and tomorrow it gets sighted in.

I love my PCR too, and I have a safe full of nice carry guns. I also have a RAMI BD that I picked up recently but haven't started caring it yet, though it's a good shooting gun. Smaller than the PCR, but not much lighter. Like you, I've sampled pretty much everything out there, and I find the PCR to be one of the best handguns ever. I dunno, maybe it's an Ohio thing :)

My daily carry alternates between a CZ Compact and a RAMI, but I have a safe full of pistols accumulated over the last 40 years. All are shooters. From time to time, I get the itch to "shop my safe" and pull out and carry an old gun for the memories and the variety. It is great, and there is nothing wrong with being promiscuous with my guns. But I will always return to my current, "best" carry guns.

Every now and then I will go through a period of time where I'm focused on a particular type of gun like something for CCW, home defense, hunting, or target shooting. Then I will see something about single action revolvers, black powder rifles, or do some plinking with one of my .22s at the range and then I will remember how much I enjoy shooting these guns too. Doesn't always have to be all business or for a specific purpose. Sometimes it can just be about having fun.

Yeah, resurrected and rejected.
A couple of days ago I was packing for the range and noticed my 2" snubby lying at the back, bottom of the drawer where it's been languishing for quite a few years. I've always liked it because it was one of the first handguns I bought after I turned 21 in 1965, it was my carry gun for quite a while, and I've always liked the iconic "snubby" look.

We got to the range, it was 15 degrees and windy, and after 10 rounds through the revolver I remembered why it sits in the back of my drawer. It just really isn't much fun to shoot, especially when your hands are frozen. The grip is too small, the trigger guard slams your knuckle, and I don't shoot it very accurately. I guess there's a reason why for me and many others the compact 9mm and .380 autos have taken over the snubby role as a small easily concealable carry gun.

Too bad, but I see a trip to consignment in its near future.
