Ever traded a non-firearm for a firearm or vice versa?

Trader's Remorse

Man this thread brings back some "trader's remorse" for me. In '85 I traded a Colt Ar15 HBAR AND a TC Contender with two barrels and a scope for a Maico 250 dirt bike. Bike was worn out two years later, and I still have the dirt bike bug that seems to monopolize my disposable income. Good guns don't wear out like dirt bikes.

I traded a Minn Kota trolling motor for a 'like new' Mossberg 500 20 gauge. :D

Does an Air rifle count as a firearm? If not, I'm trading a Gamo air rifle for a NAA 22lr tomorrow.

I traded an ex-girlfriend for my desire to carry a concealed pistol.

I did sell a gun to buy a camera. Kind of like a trade.

I worked a coworker's shift for his S&W 642! He initially offered me $250, I counter offer his 642. He wanted to be off for father's day. I end up winning because I got me another gun (for father's day) & was able to be with my family most of the day anyway.

About 25 yrs ago traded a Browning .22 auto that was not very accurate for a 17th century Japanese Samurai katana. Didn't know it was that old till I had it checked out by someone who specialized in that. Sweet:)

I traded a Stevens 311 16 gauge and a pair of winter boots for a 1964 Buick Riviera.

My first 1911, I took it in trade for a washer and dryer. It was, then and now, a great trade for me.

This thread reinforces the fact that guns are durable goods that are inexpensive and outlast most other stuff...

Several years ago I traded a Glock 22 for a brand new (only started by the dealer) Stihl Chainsaw. With all the extras (both had a lot of extras) he did come out better, but I had no need for 600 rounds of .40 S&W and .357 Sig. And I also had no need for the Sig barrel or the two holsters. Oh, and he is going to be my Best Man in a couple months, so I was happy to let him have the better end. We both got what we needed, and got rid of what we didn't need.

I traded an SKS with a pitted chamber that wouldn't eject for a bunch of 30 round Butler Creek 10/22 mags during the AW ban. Even though they are dirt cheap today, I still think I got the best end of that deal. I think I paid $60 for the SKS at a gunshow from a FFL.

I also traded off a Savage 110 for a Leupold VariX3 scope at a gunshow. I had a little less in the gun than the guy was asking for the scope. I still have the scope all these years later.

I traded an '89 Mercury Grand Marquis with a bad water pump for a Ruger Blackhawk .357 after two of the water pump studs snapped off. I hate working on anything with more than 2 wheels...

My old S.M.L.E. and the Toyota pickup

Done deal years ago...
1917 BSA #1Mk.3* .303 British plus a few hundred bucks for a 1989 Toyota.
Truck went to the junkyard ages ago, rifle still shoots just fine.

My Brother-in-law once traded a Ford f-150 for a Bulgarian SLR 95 and some cash...

Not entirely uncommon.

Guess I posted this in the wrong thread. 1964, I was 11 and I traded a Daisy Red Ryder for a Marlin 7 shot bolt action that was rusted shut. Cleaned it up, refinished the stock with polyurethane left over from a floor, shot it for 15 years. My nephew still has it. Joe

I traded an Onieda Eagle bow for a motorcycle. Wife threw a fit and we redid the deal . I ended up with a security six. Years later I got the Onieda back in another trade for an old welder. So I guess I really got a security six for a $75 yard sale welder.
