These ladies can't be faulted for shooting centre of mass. It takes time to realise that your shots are not incapacitating the aggressor, and it is likely that he shot them before they had time to appreciate this and adjust their target.

With regards to the pelvis, the areas that you have to shoot with a handgun to render the attacker immobile, are very small. You need to take out the femur or acetabulum, or possibly a lucky angled shot that disrupts most of one sacro-iliac joint. The iliac or femoral artery is a small target and the guy will be able to return fire even after you transect one of those.

However if that's the only viable target then that's what you have to go for.

IMO, if you get a chance to get a shot off and hit COM, the idea is to KEEP shooting while they are off balance and their muzzle likely off you. Rush in and keep shooting. Would take cojones no doubt. I have thought it through many times and I hope I will follow through if it ever happens to me.

How long will that last, against body armor I mean? This is coming from a pistol magazine with a couple hundred rounds in it or what?

Havok mentioned Platt and Matix. How about David Hernandez Arroyo, Sr.? He took multiple shots to the vest from Mark Wilson and then killed Mark Wilson, and this is after he had already been engaged with the police for a period of time. How about Larry Phillips, Jr. and Emil Mătăsăreanu? They took dozens of hits from dozens of officers and kept right on fighting.

You don't have enough bullets to shoot somebody in body armor COM to keep them from shooting at you.

People need to understand that buying a gun is only the beginning, like opening the box. They need to learn how to use it, and learn some Tactics. Buying a gun is like buying a Frying pan, if you can't cook it does you little good. You just end up ruining the food.
