Excellent CNN Article on a Converted Anti

Great point made -
Over the 11 years of our marriage, I slowly learned about guns. I began to accept that the gun itself posed no danger -- any danger was in the hand and heart of the beholder. I learned there were safe ways to teach your children about guns. Guns were a tool like any tool; they have multiple purposes and uses. I learned more about our Constitution and our rights as U. S. citizens. I learned I had nothing to fear and a lot to gain from owning a gun.

I think mothers need to educate themselves and learn how to best educate their kids. I work with a lot of other mothers, and many of them are shocked that I was taught how to shoot. I understand because I was there at one point -- I was scared of guns. But I no longer fear them.

So Mr. Obama and your gun control advocates: I am not physically capable of stopping a 200-pound man from raping me or my daughters. I am not physically capable of stopping a 200-pound man from entering my home and doing what he may. However, my gun is very capable of stopping such a criminal if such an act were to occur.

No WAY...logic? Good day today; don't say this often but kudos to CNN for putting it on their web site. Maybe our 'ole buddy Piers will have her on the show.

Great article. Love the comments section too. If there are so many pro gun supporters commenting on even the CNN website, where is this so called 90% of Americans supporting more control coming from

These conversion stories (even mine) always sound like the person involved just shook their head, blinked, and looked up from a television:

"Huh? What? Bad stuff can happen to me? People are behind all the bad gun crime, regardless of the tool involved? I have the right to, means to, and can gain the ability to defend myself? Why am I not doing so now? ...Wow! That was really cool, like stepping on a gas pedal for the first time! Turns out guns aren't that hard to use, after all. Huh, gun-nuts aren't like Dale Gribble, after all. Woah, people all around me carry guns concealed, and I'm none the wiser (Texas)?"

Eventually leading to...

"People are barred from defending themselves effectively elsewhere in this free country? Especially people in the poorest, most crime ridden areas?! And they want my guns now, too? These laws are really stupid, and make no sense. These people writing these laws are really ignorant, and make no sense. These laws are enforced in the most vague, arbitrary, and capricious manner. How do we begin dismantling 100+ years of laws, put in place by blissfully ignorant dupes like me, before I shot a gun as an adult?"

And finally...

"Oh, crap, I guess I'm a gun-nut now..."

Who knew the Red Pill was a freakin' Remington 700 SPS?

I'm sure it's just an oversight ;). Actually, this is the second or third story that ranks as half-decent or above in regards to fairness and accuracy regarding firearms. Who knows, maybe CNN is seeing where their bread is buttered, and will start treating we fiercely loyal and opinionated gunnies with a bit more respect--Piers just made them a (higher rated, for a time) national laughingstock with his antics, and probably gained no fans in doing so. Now, if only we could get NPR to reliably report gun issues with the same accuracy and fairness they do, say, gay issues, I'd have reason to listen again. The only thing that worries me about CNN is that the dreaded "gun control" topic header is now present on their homepage once more, meaning their editorial staff will be dedicated to it until we have another Papal coronation :uhoh:

She makes way too much sense.
It'll never catch on

From the cited article...

Right in line with this, from 2007:

The fact that the gun makes lethal force easier works solely in favor of the weaker defender, not the stronger attacker. If both are armed, the field is level. The gun is the only weapon that’s as lethal in the hands of an octogenarian as it is in the hands of a weightlifter. It simply wouldn’t work as well as a force equalizer if it wasn’t both lethal and easily employable.

Maybe it is catching on !

That article is a plant. It was almost certainly sponsored by someone. Nobody writes a letter like that and gets it published on CNN without someone backing her. I don't say that to be critical. I say that to make a point. Tis is a marketing piece. Someone out there is doing us justice making sure our message is getting out there and getting out there the way we want it framed. And CNN was willing to present it to the masses on their website. Kudos to whoever pulled that off.
