I'm not a huge fan of using Open Carry as a political statement, but this has me very proud:

If nothing else, I'm impressed he's voluntarily adding all that extra weight.

Looks like some less-lethal options on there as well. Makes it harder for antis to vilify him. "Oh, he's just looking for an excuse to shoot someone."

    :) I thought the same thing. I'd chew on a forced march...but never on a run...just couldn't.

Have to admit, that's pretty awesome. I honestly bet the vast majority of people were happy to have him there.

    That's not just a sheepdog. That's a Kurdish Kangal.

Perhaps this sport of running may be for me. Open carry, chewing tobacco, pink sweatshirts....

I probably OC about 50% of the time. Sometimes it is just very lazy CC, not a dedicated OC holster. I have started seeing others in my state OC as well. Still never had a problem and people don't seem to mind.

This is a link to the photo on the Salt Lake Tribune facebook page. There is a comment from his mother:

    Yeah, pretty cool self expression.

OMG! A man with a gun at the marathon! See everybody running away! Er, running... er... call 911!

Seeriously though, I wonder what type of 'conversation' must have occurred with the event staff during his registration.

And I'm betting this pic will NOT be used during any of the bombing coverage.

Hats off to the guy for having the balls to stick up for his rights, and for running a bloody marathon in that kit!
