General inquiry, just trying to get a feel for a 1911 to shoot to just get familiar with the 1911 platform, before moving on to higher priced one. Thoughts????

If you haven't bought the High Standard already, I would get the Rock Island Tactical. The one I bought would eat anything you fed it and spit it out in a nice group. The factory mag however was junk, FTF after 3rd round. Put in a Wilson mag, and never looked back. You can pick one up for around $500.

My High Standard 1911 is made by Armscor, and has a different rollmark and grips.

I own a High Standard 1911 Compact Crusader.
It's a very nice pistol for the price, lots of upgrades, Bull Barrel, feed ramp polish, throat job etc. right out of the box.
Mine shoots very well and ate all kinds of ammo with out fail.
I also own a full size Rock Island and it is an excellent pistol also.

I would not hesitate to buy either one again.

The High Standard is pretty much a Rock Island (great guns) with a different roll mark.
