Experience with this scope??

Just following the link, I'd buy from optics planet rather than dvor. Same company, but you can always find 10% off OP and free shipping. Dvor will charge you $10.

But I've heard good things about the strike eagle.

I've bought a number of things from OP and usually do so when sales are offered and the ever-present coupons. Combined with free shipping, the prices are usually hard to beat. I've never tried calling them though. Be worth a shot. Now that we have the price established, do any of you have experience with this scope? I've read some reviews and most are good. Where there has been a problem, Vortex customer service is reportedly not as good as Leupold, et. al. This Vortex is a China product. Leupold has a sterling reputation and their customer service is top notch. More expensive for sure, but may be worth it.

I had one when they first came out. Put it on my AR thinking it would be perfect for coyote hunting in close and at 300 yards or less. I never could warm up to it and did not really care for the quality. I ended up selling it and went with a Leupold 3.5x10x40 and just carry a shotgun for the close stuff. After that one I’m done with anything vortex, just not for me.

That's interesting.....I have two of the Leupold 3.5-10X scopes, a VX 3 and a 3i. They also happen to be my favorite scopes. Maybe I should stick with them, eh?

Buy it and try it. If you hate it and want to swap, I've got a leupold freedom 1.25-4x20 pig plex I'd trade you.

My experience with warranty work with both vortex and Leupold has been that vortex is better. If only because they picked up the phone much faster. But they both resolved my issues with no hassle. They gave me prepaid labels and I had new scopes with 2 weeks.
For comparison, Nikon is currently making me foot the bill for shipping some binoculars back to them because they now have double vision.

Do you just ask them if there's any other discounts or do you try to haggle?
Either on chat or phone just ask what's the best deal they can give you. If you do run across an item cheaper elsewhere, they'll match or beat it. But yeah, ask for best deal "shipped".

I think it is better than the Burris Mtac which is in same price range. I have this Strike Eagle 1-6 and the later 1-8 and have had zero problems . My son runs them pretty hard in Oregon these days. I recommend them , I paid a lot more from mine a few years ago. A rugged unit with a good warranty

I have the same set up on my AR in 1-6. Good enough for the price I got it for. Not sure I could hit coyotes at 300 yards with it though.

I have two of the Strike Eagle 1-8x24’s, not top end stuff, but good for what I paid, and an actual 1x at the low end.

Thank you all for your responses to my question about this scope. Of course the choice is mine to make and the consequences are mine to live with; good and bad. It'll be awhile before I get the rifle on which this scope will reside; whichever scope to end up buying. In the meantime, I'll continue hunting with what I have. The fun part is getting to try yet another option. Thanks again. Tom

What it really comes down to is how you hunt and your terrain.

The 3.5-10's might be just the ticket depending on the above. For my circumstances; terrain and how we hunt, the 10X isn't as valuable as a scope that goes to 1X. Just don't have the number of long shots as we do close in running.

IF you want to try a 1-6X my "backyard range" goes out to 760yds and I've got a bench that goes from 50-300. You can swing by and check out my set-up.

Running one on an FN15 for a little over a year, and am very impressed. I am beginning to look at Vortex for hunting rifles, over some of the old go to brands of my youth.

Thank you for that generous offer. I'll happily accept your invitation, when our weather perks up a bit. I'll get directions when the time comes and we can have a conversation. I keep forgetting how to have a "conversation" via this site, which is supposed to be a private message. I'll figure it out. Tom

I have bought from OP before and my last purchase was a Vortex. Though it was my first Vortex I can say that the value is really hard to beat and the Warranty is a huge plus. I got mine for well under sale price because the one I ordered was going to be delayed for a while and they caught it and called me to offer me a deal on the Viper. Hard to beat OP prices or Vortex warranty. As far as that particular scope I can't say. Hope this helps.
