???Failure to Cock???

I decided to change the "zero" distance for my Lasergrips, and in the process of single-action firing for that purpose, the revolver started failing to cock when I pulled the hammer all the way back.

After a spell of double-action firing, I tried cocking the hammer again and it was OK.

What's the likely cause of the failure to cock, and what can I do to correct that if it happens again? Or prevent it from happening again?

It'd help to know the type of revo.

Overall it is indicative I'd say of something that needs checked out - maybe something is needy of clean and lube. Hard to tell.

It's a nearly brand-new S&W 360PD (J-Frame) -- I've had it less than a week, and have fired less that a half box of bullets through it.

John - to be honest if that new I'd be thinking of having Smith check it out - despite the hassle involved.

I do wonder if by any chance the dreaded lock could be implicated .. probably not but I'd sure want a new gun giving troubles - even intermittent ..... to be given a clean bill of health.

Of course from a carry/SD POV DA is probably the chosen mode of useage but still - there is that lingering doubt!

It may be the top of the grips interfere with the hammer coming back all the way. This was a common problem with Pachmyr grips on J frames. It's solved by shaving a bit off tyhe top of the grips.

I have the LG 405 Lasergrip on it, and the soft rubber behind the hammer can be squeezed so as to stop the hammer from cocking.

nuthin' about no "failure to cock", but...

If all my guns are wood and blued steel, is that a "failure to Glock?"
