Farvorite Holiday!

I love the 4th, and truly appreciate what it represents, but I don't really enjoy the holiday. Some people were setting off fireworks at 2am last night, and it isn't even the 4th yet. Yes, you can love guns and not love fireworks.

My son still likes fireworks, though, so we'll go through the routine. It's one of the few times I'm happy if he opts to sit in the house and play video games, however.

I'm not into the whole fireworks at all hours around my neighborhood, either. My job, unlike some of those my neighbors have (those that work, anyway) knows no holidays.

As it is, though, a back injury a couple of days ago has me out for the entire week, so I'll be off on the 4th after all. Still, I'd rather be working and not stove up like this..

It is strange to me, but most of the firearms enthusiasts I pal around with dislike fireworks. I have no idea why, they just don't care for them.
I, on the other hand, love them. I love the symbolism of our fight to be free from oppression. I like the hundreds of years worth of science and research that went into their production. The harnessing of extraordinarily dangerous explosive elements into the creation beautiful works of art, spread onto the canvas of the sky. Physics, chemistry and artistic composition. What is not to like?

The mark of a good production company is their range of color and how truly blue they can get their stars to burn.

Have a happy and safe Independence Day.

Just got in from picking green beans for tonight's salad and need to apply the rub to the flatiron steaks next. We'll be having our small annual get together with some friends and eat then blow off some fireworks here in the "boondocks" of NE Kansas. There is a small private lake community just SE of my place and they always put on a good show too. Been lots of bangs and booms going on since the 1st.
Happy Independence Day everyone.
