Federal 9mm Ammunition

Just got off Federals web-site after ordering 4 boxes of "Punch Defense" 124 grain, 20 box count 9mm rounds, at $20.90 per. 4 box maximum.
These are shipped directly from Federal and the sales are handle by Vista Corp. , Federal parent company.
As far as I know, this has not been a normal practice by those folks, so I'm anxious to see how long receipt takes.

I think those are 20 round boxes, but still not bad.

Good to hear. Federal has had that web site for a while. Problem is paying S&H on 4 boxes isn't efficient.

They just delivered several pallets of 9mm Syntech to USPSA LoCap Nationals this week. I'm guessing in the 100,000rds range. (Just an estimate of 200 competitors buying @ 500 rds each.). Got my name on 1,000 of it.

That ammo sells online at $40 for a box of 20. The Op’s $20.90 is a good buy, but I don’’t think he meant it was for a box of 50.

I ordered some back when it was a 2 box limit cause I'm due to rotate out my carry ammo and wasn't sure when more would be available. It took about 3 weeks to get to me. I haven't shot any yet, but feel better taking some other jhp's out of my stash now that I have a couple boxes for reserve. It looks like good stuff, and the few reviews I've seen are pretty good.

I'd never known an ammo manufacturer to sell directly to the public. So I ordered some from Federal a few months ago, just to see if it really worked. It did.

Yeah, federal has been selling direct for a while now. I haven't ordered it myself.

Wish they'd do the same with primers.

I've been checking once a week out of curiosity mostly. The Punch line of JHP's has been the most common thing to pop up, and can be had in 9mm .380 and .45 from time to time. It is priced around $1/ round which is pretty reasonable for JHP considering the times. The only 9mm range ammo I've seen come up was some 124 grain fmj and they wanted .60/round for it in 50 round boxes, limit 2. I have to admit that that is lower than most dealers are selling it but still too high for me. Especially when you have to pay 12 bucks shipping and can only get 2 boxes.

You are correct on the box count of 20. I'm so used to doing 50 round count boxes, I had a brain fart on this one.

My local Bi-Mart continues to receive shipments of the Punch line (of handgun ammo), sometimes every week or every other week, and actually sells it for around $20 a box (but there's a two box limit). Bi-Mart has of late been getting the SynTech stuff in as well.

I've tested the Punch in 9mm and .45 ACP; it's accurate and reliable. Will get out and shoot up the two 50-round boxes of SynTech 9mm I picked up.

I've ordered off the Federal website twice (hunting ammo); the first time the shipping was sorta reasonable (still, almost two weeks), the second time, dirt slow.

I ordered a couple of 50 round boxes of AE 115 gr. direct from Federal last month to be used as birthday gifts. Delivered to my door in one week.

Edited to add: Just ordered four boxes of AE 9mm 124 gr. fmj @ $26.99/box plus tax & shipping from Federal. Still way too high, but I don’t care, as I’m not going to stand in line at our local Academy with the neckbeard scalpers an hour before opening.

^^^^ I agree if I need it, I'm gonna get me some. I got a feeling this ammunition fiasco is gonna last for quite some time. Pretty soon "lead" will knock gold off the top of the list.

And, it's getting too costly to offer warning shots.
