Helping friend to chose right ammo for his BAR 7 Remington Magnum. He is hunting wild boars, weights mostly from 200 to 400 lbs, mountainous area, distances anywhere from 50 to 300 yards.

Locally available ammo: Federal POWER SHOK SP 175 gr, and FUSION 175 gr.

Please recommend which of those two types would be better choice, thanks.

Let's assume they equal in accuracy department. Then Fusion would be my choice. IMO the Fusion line of ammo is the best you can get for factory ammo.

I would use the fusion since it's bonded and will penetrate better. The Power Shok is a cup and core bullet that will open up aggressively but penetrate less. I think it probably won't matter but the bonded bullet is technically better if you hit a very large boar in the thickest part of the shoulder, or if he is not perfectly broadside. On a lung shot either will do.

Edit: I would reiterate Patocazador's comment that in that caliber it almost certainly does not matter even on pretty good sized hogs. My friend uses 150gr Power Points (cup and core like the Power Shok) on hogs here and while they penetrate less than the bonded bullets I use, they penetrate fairly well.
