I am considering a new carry gun (currently have the Springfield XDm 40, looking for a pocket 9) and I am considering the Sig P938 vs the Kimber Ultra Carry II or Kimber Solo. My wife carries the Sig 938 and is happy with it, but wanted some feedback on reliability as I haven't shot the Kimber.

Any feedback is appreciated.

I own, and am happy with, three SIGs. I want, nay, lust for a Kimber. Just cannot buy one with all the hit-or-miss user reviews out there.

I'll be interested to see where this thread goes.

I have a Kimber Eclipse and a Sig Carry Nightmare. I have to say my Kimber is not a run-of-the-mill example. It required the break in ritual of a few hundred rounds, and it has been perfect ever since. I have not ever shot a pistol that could beat it in accuracy. The build quality is perfect, no tool marks, excellent fit.

The Sig is newer and appears to be also made without tool marks. It has not been shot as much as the Kimber, so it is still fairly new. The one thing that stands out to me is the difference in the sights. The front sight is narrower and the rear sight gap is wider on the Kimber. It is better on my old eyes than the Sig.

I like them both and have complete confidence in them.

I don't own any of the ones you've mention, but have shot them all and know a bit about their designs.

With reliability as a foremost consideration, you're best bet would be the Kimber Solo...I'm pretty sure they've fixed their early problems.

Since you already have a XDm, have you considered the XD-S?

Sig vs Kimber

This is great feedback, thanks. I have looked at the XDs and do like it, but trying to stick to 9mm for my full time carry vs the 45. I did hear that the XDs will be available in 2013 in the 9mm but I just don't know how reliable that info is.

I am leaning Sig, but need to go shoot the Kimber to get a feel for it. The main issue I see now is that finding it any time soon is going to be tough, the local guns shops here and even most online have been picked clean since the School shooting in Newtown.

Ammo has also been tough to find locally (I live in College Station, TX). I was able to pick up a few hundred rounds today, but had to hit Academy at just the right time.
