Expecting to receive a windfall in the next few days, only been waiting about 10 yrs but at least its on the way. Basically we don't need anything major, house, car, truck is all paid for and other than needing better health don't really need anything. But today my wife and I were making the typical plans 75% invested and saving, replace carpet in the house, get the cat's declawed. Then it came to just our personal spending , mad money. I have a habit of putting cash in my wallet and it stays until it it absolutely necessary to use it (yes I'm cheap- thrifty). While I have no problem what so ever in giving my wife anything she wants I have a problem spending on myself. But it was agreed that each of us take $1000.00 for what ever we want. Like the title says I feel like a kid in a candy store with a hand full of money. First thing I thought of was a Gatlin gun that is listed at Dixie but at $45,000.00 don't think that is happening anytime soon. Maybe its time to get that Brown Bess that I've been eyeing. Suggestions :D or I just might go to a gun shop I know and just kick the tires and do a lot of drooling.

Another candy store

I watch midwestguntrader.com
Mostly Missouri and Kansas, but other states are represented. Course it doesn't matter if you're getting something shipped to an ffl.

Enjoy the candy.

The first rule of buying black powder guns:

NEVER, ever buy a black powder gun sight unseen without a no-questions-asked return guarantee for a full refund and a minimum 3 day inspection period. Never. Under any circumstances. Period.

+1....me too.

If I were in your shoes....I would drive to a big competition shoot somewhere, or book a hunt of some sort, instead of buying a new gun.

....Or maybe some high end leather for a brace of Ivory gripped Colts.

Ditto on what Mykeal posted. I think that shopping for a new gun is almost..I said almost...as getting said gun! Let us know what you get....and don't skimp on the gun p*rn!:)

Mykeal that is a lesson that most learn the hard way, unfortunately in my life I have started looking at most people like used car sales persons. You can tell when they are lieing their lips are moving. Most likely will just pocket the cash and wind up giving it to one of the grandkids.

Without a doubt those are a true work of art. Might have to crack open the piggy bank and make sure they go in the coffin with me when I go. Heck you never know you might need a good revolver on the other side too.

I know how yer feelin.
I'm due to retire in June & as a retirement gift to myself, finally broke down & bought two guns I always wanted.

Got a great deal on a lightly used NW Trade Gun from the historical trekking Website. You can probably find a good deal on a brown bess there.

Another place to look for it is the muzzle loading forum
http://www.muzzleloadingforum.com/

& just bought a new Uberti 1876 in 45-60 at a great price off gunbroker.

Start looking early & be patient as fabulous deals just pop up now & then.

Yup, I found my Colt 2nd gen Dragoon on that forum. Got it for the same price as most of the used Uberti dragoons I've seen. Great deal, great gun. Ya gotta be ready to buy when the deals appear!

Yea think I found the next one, its over there and just posted. 62cal Fowler and its close enough I can make a drive to save on the shipping and waiting. But also yesterday found a Browning 1919 .308cal machine gun, missing tripod and right plate but would definitive keep me off the streets until it was finished. Then again here Kwhi43 has a 3rd model Dragoon listed here. TOOOOO Many guns and not enough time, think I should have retired when I was young enough to do all the things I want to do...

Samething happened to me. I ended up getting a WWII 30M1 Carbine by IBM. I am really happy cuz it fits in well with the rest of my collection.
