Hey fellas,
I was wondering if anyone has any experience with these pistols. Ive read about them on the Mak forum and others, and i read one post that one guy's PA 63 wore out after so many rounds.....anybody have any comments on the longevity of these pistols?
thanks

I don't think I'll ever shoot mine enough to wear it out. Just not very pleasant shooting for me. I've noticed some wear on the hood near the chamber....the aluminum is kinda soft I think, as it scratches easily in that area.

A friend of mine has one. I don't like it at all. Shoots ok, but it beats the crap out of the web of your hand. I guess I am just a wimp, but after one mag I was flinching so bad I could harly keep the shots on the paper. It hurt.

I am sure if you shoot it enough it will wear out. But I don't think you are going to want to shoot it that much. I got mine for 80 bucks two years ago. I have maybe 150 rounds through it. Good gun, but I didn't get it for range shooting.

Yeah they do seem to wear there but it doesn't affect accuracy or function. I suppose over time you can wear one out but I haven't worn mine out yet. What do you want for $100?

And if you think a Pa 63 kicks you need to get tougher. :scrutiny:

I've got one too, agree that it's a gun not meant to put boxes of ammo thru at a sitting. Get comfortable with it and then use it for an inexpensive self-defense gun that's small and light. Might be a good truck/car pistol or carry gun.

Prodigalshooter said it all.
They do hurt more than any other semi i own.Mine sometimes dont go fully into battery if im practicing double taps.Maybe a new recoil spring from makarov.com would solve that.
That said however i do own two and theyre a steal for the price.

I also have a PA-63. I agree with the others that it is not a gun you will want to put hundreds of rounds through at a single sitting. It is, however, a nice little gun which fires a reasonably powerful round and is small and easy to carry and conceal.

When I bought mine, the DA trigger pull was atrocious, being very heavy and "peaky". I obtained a spring kit from www.makarov.com and replaced the mainspring with the 9-lb mainspring in the spring kit. This not only lowered the DA pull to a manageable level, but also smoothed it and made it less "peaky", but still powered the hammer sufficiently to give the hard primers on my carry ammo (Barnaul 95-grain JHP steel case) a good smack. I also find that for reasons I can't explain, the gun shot "softer" after I made the spring change and I can now shoot 100-150 rounds through it without difficulty.

All in all, I now have a nice, reliable little gun with good power and accuracy. I realize it won't last forever and I don't expect it to, for the price I paid for it. When I take it to the range, I run about 100-150 rounds through it and that usually goes fine.

If you want a gun which last for 100,000 rounds without a failure, you won't get it buying a Hungarian military surplus pistol with an aluminum frame for $80, but if you do buy a PA-63, you'll be getting a nice, accurate, practical little pistol.
