Just wanted to let the gun cranks know the Feinstein Project's website is now up: http://www.FeinsteinProject.org

We're attempting to build a working AR lower from toy plastic bricks, starting w/ a .22"LR upper and a thumbhole stock. Any technical contributions you might make would be appreciated.

rc - your call. The legal section didn't see my legal questions about launching the project as gun related. My question is - how is a project whose aim is to build a working AR lower receiver NOT gun related, and please tell me why I wouldn't go ask gunsmiths for their suggestions?

LEGO bricks can be remarkably strong. They build seriously large towers out of them. If you have them assembled properly to maximize strong points the lower would be very durable. Since most of the forces are horizontal on the lower, it would make sense to build it from the butt up. This will also help absorb the recoil abuse. Most toy lego guns are assembled from the base of the grip up, so the forces are going to be hitting the much weaker side of the bricks and disassembling them.

Do you have any photos?

Please, ask away. The community has an interest in seeing this program reach fruition with a working AR fabricated from wood and childrens' toy Lego.
