Fellow Californians, have you already decided on your 1st handgun purchase for '03?

Just curious, w/ some new regs being put into place, what guns do you have your eyes on for '03?
Me, I'll like to pick up another 45 acp and maybe a rifle or 2, but nothing specific yet.

I am easing into 2003 by doing a carry over transfer.

I just traded for a S&W 638 yesterday - to pickup on 1/9/03

So - I will have to show proof of residency and do a "demonstration" but I do not need to get the HSC card just yet.

If I stay in CA, I may get the card, but I hope to move and I am too poor to buy any more guns for a while :p

I'm thinking about a 1911, probably one of the new Colt government model series 70. I've heard some good things from
fellow TFL/THR folks regarding them.

You can probably get a new rollmark, since that's what Colt is making, but the new Series 70 is not available per the certified list. Sorry, you'll have to leave California to get one of those. BTW, my next 1911 may be a new Series 70, or a Caspian.

I pick up the browning hi power in a couple of days. Maybe a new CZ 75 or a SIG P220 in stainless steel next. Oh and maybe another couple of rifles for hunting one for varmints and one for bigger game. Marlin 1894 and maybe a bolt gun. I can't wait. :D

If you can still buy ANY gun, the CA legislature obviously has not completed its work. But never fear, they will take care of that this year.

hmmm

Another N frame S&W. Either in .45LC or .45ACP. Also have my eye on an old Webley .455 that I might grab.

Other plans this year include a Marlin Cowboy in .45LC and a nice Ithaca M37 with a 20" barrel.

Tomorrow I pick up a 1940's S&W 2" M&P I bought earlier in December.

not legal

Today I was thinking of adding a 45 to my other 45, have owned a Sig P220ST for half a year; thought I'd get something smaller and narrowed it down to the Taurus 945; then I looked at the DOJ approval list and saw only the Millenium (I just am not happy with striker fired type semi=autos) in 45, and did not see the P945!!! It came out a few years back, and I have heard good reports.
So, went to the T. website to ask if they'll send it in for approval, and there's no web address for Taurus that I could find, so will have to research more, maybe send postal mail or phone 'em. Anyone know how to e mail their customer service?
BTW, would buy a Sig 245, if it were not such a brick and held a round or two more.

No guesses on either :( Give it at least 4 months after everyone else.

Beretta and HK are kinda slow, gotta give Kimber kudos for getting their stuff in CA real quicklike.

Just over a week ago I posted my firm conviction not to buy more handguns in 2003. Ordered a chrome Valtro on the last day of the year. It started as a mild enquiry and a few question of John Jardine and ended up with an order to be filled sometime in the first quarter of 2003. I don't know if I should be happy, or disappointed in my lack of resolve.

Gary, I swore a few months ago when I learned of what the new reg's were going to look like not to buy again. But NO, I'm not letting them win :neener: I'm buying on principle!
