Hello-

I am Lion_dog Membership Director for the The NJ Coalition for Self Defense. WE are a volunteer citizen's non-profit organization, whose purpose is to perform a public education service with respect to our Civil, Human and Constitutional rights, provide training on practical principles of effective self defense for personal, family and public safety, and promote traditional American libertarian principles.

Our mission: To effect positive change to New Jersey's current public policy of discouraging, penalizing, and even criminalizing, legitimate and necessary acts and methods of self defense and to pursue these policy changes through legislative initiatives, grassroots activism and statewide public information campaigns.

The NJ Coalition for Self Defense absolutely does NOT advocate or condone the initiation of force under any circumstances. We do, however, support the basic civil and human rights of all citizens to defend themselves from an assailant.

Our position is that the decision to take personal responsibility for one's own personal safety is a laudable, realistic, and necessary first step. The critical elements to this are overall awareness of ones situation, a commitment to avoid unnecessary confrontation, a commitment to de-escalation when feasible, and to have a plan to survive predatory attacks.

In this larger context, the decision to accept the responsibility of owning and carrying defensive weapons and/or training, as consistent with the law, is a personal decision of gravity that should not be taken lightly.

The NJ Coalition for Self Defense is an advocate for responsible, law abiding citizens who have elected to take this legitimate step, and seeks to re affirm the individuals right to do so in the State of New Jersey.

The next NJCSD general meeting is on Sunday 2/19 from Noon to 3PM at the 2nd Floor Conference room of the Fairleigh Dickinson University in Hackensack. Driving directions below.

All members, guests and the general public are welcomed!

We will be covering the following subjects:
- Update since our last meeting of 7/24
- Current initiatives in the works
- On The Radar (initiatives we want to implement)
- Strategic Relationships
- Website improvements (we'll have a live internet connection and video projector)
- Brainstorming (open discussion from the floor)
- Surprise mini-FUNdraiser

The great news is that we also might have our Membership T-Shirts ready by that time. If you are a DUES PAYING MEMBER and have not done so already, please take a moment to vote in the poll linked below.

http://www.njcsd.org/forum/showthread.php?t=262

Directions from just about anywhere South or West:
- Garden State Parkway or Rt. 17 North
- Exit onto Route 4 Eastbound
- Exit onto Hackensack Avenue Southbound (County 503), just as you approach Riverside Square Mall. I suggest you stay to the right hand side as you travel Rt. 4, because the exit comes up fairly quickly after the large office buildings to your left.
- Hackensack Ave. South for approximately 1 mile, make a LEFT at the 2ND LIGHT into the FDU campus.
- Straight back on the service road, and make a left on the street right before the building with the pointed roof.

Similar directions can be surmised from parts North, if you will be travelling South on the GSP or Rt. 17. If you're coming from the Palisades Parkway, take Rt. 4 Westbound, and exit at the loop for Hackensack avenue right near the Riverside Square mall.

Please feel free to call with any questions or problems at 201-895-0033.

Thanks for your attention. We look forward to seeing old friends and making new ones!

Yours in Liberty,

Lion_dog

Yes we do need the help, any and all the help we can get - !!! All is appreciated.

I know I have limited involvement and exposure on THR, but we, NJCSD, are trying to do the RIGHT thing.

Thank you very much.

There are many current Patriots here in NJ still, and although we prefer freer states this is STILL our state and ours to fight for. When I can, I too will leave but not until I can poke an eye or two of the fascists. As in real life, one may or may not beat me up, but I'm going down swinging, kicking biting scratching. One will remember from their scars they have met me.

This is a GOOD fight, years of capitulation and corruption has taken its toll. Some one must champion for what is right and good, we are here to amass the less inclined and the fervent to fight back.

Lion_dog,
Count me as a Patriot too!! As with you, I'm stuck here for the foreseeable future and have been so for most of my 46 years. We live in a political sewer hole ...the corruption makes me sick. I think we are going to have BIG trouble with King Jon and his new AG (wants to make NJ first "gun free" state). I live down south...am going to try to make the meeting this week, but its not looking too good right now as I already have plans and just found out about the meeting. I will keep up with the organization and will become a dues paying member (just found your org yesterday). You need some southern exposure....I noticed there are only 75 or so members on the forum. I will tell all my friends to log on. Look forward to meeting some day. Regards

Excellent - spread the word, thank you.

NJCSD is three years old. In its process of growth (new management, new website, new pretty much everything - we have lost touch with MANY old members [another topic]) the road has been bumpy and mostly under funded. I am new in my role, since ~August '05.

We pray the day you see at least ONE BILLBOARD on a MAJOR NJ ROADWAY.

"JOIN NJCSD and FIGHT for your RIGHTS"

...or something on that order.

We have some GROUND shaking news to be announced at this meeting and DAY-YUM it is GOOD and MOST positive.

Please stay in touch.

Good Buy NJ

Well you sure do have your hands full of it in the Socialist Republic of NJ.
I ran more then two years ago and one of the main reasons was the socialist view of firearms. With the swipe of a pen Gov. Florio made thousands of criminals then the lieing Lesbian Whitman who swore to my face she would reverse the Florio gun ban. Then she denied ever saying it. It's in print I had it.
Then you have the Democratic pig named Chris Smith who hides behind a conservative republican slogan. He is a liberal Demmy all the way. And you's relect him every time.
I sat in a restaurant in NJ and he swore he would never vote for the Brady bill and did it anyway. You will never win in the Socialist Republic of New Jersey.
In NJ you listen to the news and hear how people always make fun of the State and you are the butt of all Jokes well you know what once you leave you see it's all true.
Sorry for the rant but I have never felt better then when I left NJ. I lived there my whole life, highest auto ins. in the country, highest property taxes, highest crime in the largest cities (Camdon, Newark and so on), a Gay governor who gave his bed fellow a $200,000.00 a year job to pleasure him.(Then you elect his buddy as Governor. Come on sink in to the Ocean.
Good bye.

Hello, folks.

I'm in PRNJ as well... Hoboken,to be exact. :uhoh:

This is the type of place where they lose my voter registration (yes, sadly, I declared a party) at every opportunity, to force me into an easily discarded
'write-in'. :cuss:

I have to hide my Amer. Rifleman mags when we host my kid's playgroup,
or I'm sure the other parents in the building would have a royal SH*TFIT.

But, I look at it this way... Before I moved out of Manhattan, I had no
rights and had to leave the state to shoot a friend's guns. Now, I'm
licensed, and can shoot my own firearms when I want to.

Anyone want to opine on their favored FFL's in North Jersey?
Anyone Shop at Caso's Gun-a-rama? Good? Bad?

I am happy you are happy living in a "free state".

NJCSD is not giving up. This not about running, some of us can, some can't. While and AFTER I leave this state I will contribute something to fight for firearms rights here. I lived in NY and CA and now for the time being NJ. I still give to CA and NY to fight the hordes and whores of the political game. Turning your back really is not an option. NJ is not falling into the ocean, CA maybe for real reasons. Rock throwers can have a field day, we (gun owners)are all in the SAME glass house - instead of helping with some kind of support there is more sport throwing the rock.

Sorry you feel the way you do about NJ. It is a pretty nice state, the politics SUCK, the MEDIA sucks so all of the people suck? Nah, I live here and I don't suck and I don't bend over.

I just don't get how you or we can win when the same loosers keep getting elected and the media is a large part of it. I watched Chuck Scarbourough NBC years ago talk about a murder a knifing and they had a picture of a gun behind him.
NJ gets the least amount of Federal aid for there dollar for like 30 years nows. And every year the same old same old. These politicians in NJ more then anywhere else just ride the people into the ground and the people seem to love it.
The gay guy, Whitmann, Florio. Kean all very rich now on our backs and did not one thing for the state. You must admit it's now worse then NY or even CA.
Good Luck with you fight one of my best friends is still there and he leaves for Fla. most of the year.

45Frank-

I agree with your observations. However YOU can still matter, become a donating member of NJCSD. Ooooh, you maybe thinking - it's about the money. Yes it is. They, the bad guys are CORRUPT and it involves $$$ - we are not corrupt and doing the right thing, but doing the right thing needs money to accomplish that. What is that??? Firearms and self-defense Education, Positive Firearms and self-defense press releases, advertising, etc. at the LOCAL NJ level.

If you can give or in a position Frank please do contribute - any dollar amount helps. Reach out to your NJ buddy and show him. I don't mean to be rude or discourteous but if the Founding Fathers gave up we'd be speaking the KING'S ENGLISH instead of JERZY.

I'm with Lion_Dog on this one. Its a beautiful State. Most folks in the rest of the Country do not even know/care about. I can ski in the mountains and three hours later, swim in the ocean. I can hunt five months out of the year and use the state gun ranges all year round for free. I've gotten lost in south jersey pines and had to spend the night in the woods while bow hunting:eek: Our weather is temperate, its 52 degrees out today. Most people are good people.....and a lot of us are STUCK here for now. Yes, there is going to be more trouble with Corzine in now and yes, I feel like I'm fartin' in the wind trying to change the way most folks in NJ feel about gun ownership. I write letter after letter to politicians (Lautenberg, just to name one) and newspapers anyway. If nothing else, it keeps people thinking about gun issues and lets them know that there are gun loving folks out there amongst them. And lion_dog, I'm behind this movement to regain our Constitutional Rights.

That's right! If some can say, "I'm here, I'm queer...", I can say, "'from my cold, dead hands'".

MOLON LABE

I grew up a clamdigger and both my kids were born Pinies.
Corzine will take up where Florio left off. This man is a total socialist. I wish you all the luck but I'm sorry I can never see it getting any better for gun owners. I can't understand how these Guys keep getting elected, some of the Republicans the last few elections weren't that bad. The biggest problem is many of these politicians mostly Republican go on the record one way then vote the other and it never gets reported, I used Chris Smith is previous post as an example, Whittman is enother. She denied ever saying she'ld resind the Florio Gun ban. It was out there everyplace. AND SHE WON BY LESS THEN THE NUMBERS OF GUN OWNERS IN NJ, LESS THEN 25000 VOTES.
I collected thousands of signatures with John Lotts report and to get a right to carry to Whitman and she left them on the steps of the capitol. Remember these people Republicans stab you in the back at least with the Demmy you know what your getting.
Yes you can ski and be at the beach in a few hours but you can't afford to get on it. Then if you do you got a good chance of seeing a tampon or needle floating on by.
NJ are the filthiest beachs I 've ever seen and the most expensive. I've hit nearly every beach from NY to Texas.
Again Good Luck

45Frank, I can't disagree with a lot of what you said; however, I have to make the best of what I can of NJ as I'm going to be here for at least another fifteen years. I envy all the folks here that have freedoms in their state that we do not have in NJ. I agree, the politicians are nothing more that a bunch of self serving liars and thieves. IMO, the only agenda most of them have is self preservation. That being said, they are also pretty shrewed. Place friends, relatives and party faithful on the payroll and keep handing out the goodies to the less fortunate at the expense of the working family man. Just in Gloucester County alone, our Freeholder chairman has several "confidential assistants" making over 100k a year with no job description. That's how they keep getting elected. With the state budget six billion in the red, the King wants to institute full time pre-school for all the three and four year olds in the state at a cost of two billion a year. What voting bloc do you think that program will deliver to the poles? Like I said before, its a political sewer hole and I think the federal justice department would have a field day here. I pray someday they do. But until then, we have to keep plugging away, trying to do what we can and try to expose these extortionists for what they are. P.S. I'd eat my own vomit before I'd pay to sit on a beach in NJ.

I don't think I can make this one, but please keep me posted of future meetings and events. I was born and raised here. I am not ready to give up just yet.

LD, after I posted here, I went over to your site and became a paying member. :)
I hate feeling like its a lost-cause here, and maybe it is....At least I feel like I'm doing the right thing by supporting the local groups - which is what NJ needs. I don't think the national groups really put much time into NJ - probably wrote us off as a loss.
