Ok, apparently Universal made two different carbines. One worked like a GI M1 carbine, field stripped the same way, same everything. The other, although it looked like a GI carbine, was actually recoil operated instead of gas operated.
That's the kind I've got. So -- I can get the action out of the stock, of course. I can get the trigger group out of the action. (And all that is just like field stripping a GI issue piece.) From then on, I'm stuck. Can't figure out how to get the bolt out, can't figure out to do about the rest of the action, which doesn't look even vaguely like a real one. Google only knows about the regular, gas operated, models.
Anyone got one of these? Any ideas how to field strip it?
Thanks in advance!
