first quick range session today wit the BLR.
3 shots to adjust for zero
after that, zeroed at 100 yds. with a roughly 1.5''( a bit less, actually) group with Winchester Silvertips.
I wish they still made those, good accuracy for factory ammo.
any load suggestions?

Wander over to the reloading forum. I had a thread from last year and another fella started one a couple of weeks ago.

Here's mine from last year

https://www.thehighroad.org/index.php?threads/anyone-reload-for-the-358-winchester.814064/

I worked up a lower recoil load for my 14 year old son with 180g Speer hot-cor and Barnes TTSX. I ended up being the one to kill a buck with the latter.

I have a few more to try this year, including Hornady 200g RN, Nosler 200g Accubond and Sierra 225g Game Kings. I'll post the results when I get done

You are my new best friend! I have settled on this rifle in this caliber for my do-all hunting rifle. Any new revelations you have with this rifle, I'd love to hear about it. I plan to put a Leupold FX-II 4X on it.

Are the Hornady 200 grainers designed around .35 Rem velocities, or will they hold up to the faster .358?

I'm starting to load for the .35, and the velocities are pretty sedate compared to the .358 Win.

Glad to oblige! My first BLR was a .308 that I love, but...I am a bit of a contrarion, and I just liked the .358. the only flaw I see is the ugly trigger. it's a bit more of a gentlemen rifle tha I like as far as looks, but thet carry well

I cannot say. what little research that dictates that is basically hearsay. After reading a good handful of reviews, the Sierra 200 gr roundnose was often used for the .358, as were the reviews for the Speer HOTCOR 220gr flat nose

RioMouse911,
The 200gr Hornady is a bit "tough" for the .35Rem. OK if loaded to top velocity, at 0-75yds.
The 200gr Sierra RN is the best currently available bullet for the .35Rem.
Most accurate load I've ever had in the .35 was with the 200 Sierra's over H322 in a Rem 760. But, H4895 and LVR are right behind. The no longer available Remington 200gr Corlokts were the BEST, but alas are no longer available in component form. The 200 Sierra's are truly devastating on deer. Twice, I've been able to see "daylight" through a deer briefly when hit in the chest with the .35. At under 100yds, it hits harder than a .30/06.
My .358 BLR likes H4895 and 200gr Hornady PtSpt.

For my .35Rem, I've gone exclusively to a RCBS 200gr FNGC (218gr) over 39.0gr BLC2 for 2,050fps.
Original poster will find nothing lacking with his BLR .358win. Hand load either 200gr Hornady PtSpt or 200gr Nosler AB for deer, etc., 225gr Sierra GK or 225gr Nosler AB, or Partition for bigger stuff. H4895 or TAC are your powders, though many others will be acceptable.

Wander over to marlinowners.com and search in the ammo testing sub forum. Profound amount of info/data. Will make you a believer in all things .35cal.

Are you a bullet caster? My BLR really loves the RCBS 200 grain. With repurposed 308 cases and cast lead bullets, the BLR is one of my most economical centerfire rifles to practice with.
