I have noticed I am starting to see ammo at walmart again.
I was amazed I found 380 and for under 20 bucks a box.I was seeing it as high as 32 bucks for 50 rounds of fmj.
Also got 40 wwb hollow points.
    No 9 mm yet.
Is anyone else seeing ammo back on the shelves

Some, like .380 and .223, are in fairly decent quantities. Occasionally I come across some 9mm. and .45ACP but still no .22LR.

I went into Academy Sports today for the first time this year and was surprised to see a good assortment of ammo except for rim fire. They had plenty of 9mm and .45 ACP as well as many odd duck ammo such as .32 S&W & .30 Luger. There was plenty of .223 and other rifle ammo, I finally was able to pick up a box of 30-30 that I hadn't seen for a while. The prices were reasonable by today standards.

I'm seeing most everything now. Not a lot of everything and not everyday but its there more days than not.

Except 22.... its still scarce. Every place I talk to says they aren't getting nearly as much as they used to; only like 1/3rd of what they used to get.

Given that, it seems that there is a production issue as much or more than a hoarding issue.

We were lucky in my area, no real shortages on ammo this past year, just a noticeable increase in prices. Good to hear that others are now finding more on the shelves.

In my area, Academy has always had a pretty decent supply of just about everything BUT rimfire for quite a few months now.

Walmart shelves still remain almost bare.

There are three Wal-Mart stores in my city. Two of them stock firearms (long guns) and all three stock ammo, or at least have cases for it.

At one of them, I have been seeing .40S&W (for which I have no guns) and .380ACP pop up every now and then. The last time I was there, they had two boxes of the latter in the WWB. I bought one of them for around $17, I think, then wished I had bought the other.

The next day, I went to the Bass Pro Sops store that opened here less than a month ago, and picked up 100 rounds each of 9mm, .380ACP, and .38 Special, all in WWB. I could have gotten more of all but the .38 stuff.

The simple solution: Order online and avoid Walmart, plus the local retailers.

Walmart should have let its prices rise, but in theory it must not have seemed profitable enough.
There is so much more to the world than China Mart.

I seldom check the Walmart but my local Gander Mountain has had a good selection for months.

Overall I see plenty of ammunition that is well priced returning to the market place. I suggest those who were caught short this time around get stocked up because rest assured this was not the first ammunition drought and it won't be the last.

I think maybe there should be a stickie at the start of this forum

"There are other places in the US that sell ammo other than Wal-Mart"

For the love of god, get over it. And yes, there is a ton of ammo everywhere around here. Bass Pro, Farm & Fleet, Cabelas, Gander Mountain have virtually everything you could want. If you have more than three teeth and an above room temperature IQ, leave Wally World behind and visit the real world.

I got a After Thanksgiving sale flyer from Cabala's in the mail today.

    On the front cover is:
Winchester .22LR HP, with oak box.
    300 rounds.
    $16.95.

Inside is a Marlin Model 60 for $199.99.
And the add says AMMO SHIPMENTS ARRIVING DAILY!

The Lawton,OK Wal-Mart on Quanah Parker has everything in stock except .22 rimfire. Lots of .223, .40 cal., 9mm and .45.

I wonder if the quality of the ammo is still there? Prior to the ammo scare there were numerous recalls of defective/dangerous ammo. Ammo recalls have been commonplace for decades. I have had shooters tell me of defective ammo of recent manufacture.

I have finally been seeing some 22lr ammo at the local walamrts here. Cabelas has had hardly any 22lr while kittery trading post has been having some 22lr. First time I have seen it around since febuary. Souther Maine.

Unless something triggers another one, as the present nightmare was triggered. Tis a fragile supply as I see it.

Plenty of calibers at Academy Sports and Gander here. .22 still gets doled out, but at $5 out the door for 2 boxes of 50 I'm not complaining.

The 22lr has for all purposes dried up at my local Academy. All through this shortage my local Academy has received some 22lr no less than once a week. Thats changed. Either because its drying up again or they are hoarding it for black friday. Of course they take part of every shipment and put it aside for those buying 22lr firearms from them can have ammo to shoot in their new firearm. A good practice for them but makes replacing what I use even harder especially since I'm shipping my son 5,000 rounds as a Christmas present for his new Sig522.

My local Walmart in NE Kansas has no 22 Lr and very little else. The Cabela's mentioned by RC gets shipments in but it sells so quickly they can't keep 22 LR on the shelf. they are getting lots of other ammo and that same flyer that RC mentioned advertised Hornady 17 HMR for $11.99. Not a bad price if they can keep shells on the shelf.
