finding ammo again

Well we got 2 cases of the Remington 1400 count buckets in today. A whole 8 buckets and you know those 8 lucky people are just hoarders, flippers and gougers because they got ammo and I didn't. Well not really quite
true as I decided to buy some metal 50 cal ammo cans since they were going for $9.99 instead of the 22lr.

Just came from Walmart.
They have in stock 3 brands of .45 ACP, .357, 223, no 9 mm or 22LR

I think maybe there should be a stickie at the start of this forum

"There are other places in the US that sell ammo other than Wal-Mart"

For the love of god, get over it. And yes, there is a ton of ammo everywhere around here. Bass Pro, Farm & Fleet, Cabelas, Gander Mountain have virtually everything you could want. If you have more than three teeth and an above room temperature IQ, leave Wally World behind and visit the real world.

Not everyone has a Cabela's in their backyard, but Walmarts are every where. It is where I used to buy most of my .22 lr, and casual range ammo for my pistols.

If I drive for an hour and a half, there is a Cabela's, Academy Sports, and a Gander Mountain , none of which reliably has .22 lr. In fact, I was able to get .380 practice ammo from Wally World long before it was available from Cabela's or Gander Mountain. I was even lucky enough to pick up 3 fifty round boxes of Winchester .22 lr from Walmart before I saw any in the of the afore mentioned 90 minute drive stores.

With my full set of teeth and more than room temperature IQ, why would I drive over sixty miles and fight city traffic for another half hour, when a detour of a couple of miles after work takes me to a local Walmart?

Yes by all means stay out of Walmart! Go online and find some 22lr. It's everywhere....for only $59 a brick.

Go to the LGS for ammo. He has bricks of 22 for only $79.99. Or he won't even sell a brick but charges $8.99 for a box of 50 Thunderbolts.
If you need any 9x18 he has it for only $29.50 per box but he will give you a deal for $25. He has 9mm FMJ for only $27 a box.

Or drive an hour to Gander where they have loads of SD rounds for every caliber you don't own at prices you can't afford to shoot. Academy is a few miles away and they occasionally have a few boxes of pistol ammo. They are loaded with ammo for duck season.

Walmart on the other hand has kept their prices in line. I have said it before but they don't raise their prices unless the manufacturers charge them more. It flies in the face of their entire mind set to actually limit the amount you can buy because they want that $100 and they don't care if it's your $100 or mine.

Online I bought 1,000 rounds of the exact same 9x18 that the three local guys were asking close to $30 for and I paid $16 or so delivered. Had it in a week.
I have picked up the odd box of 22 LR along the way from different online retailers at decent prices and the freight made it only marginally stupid.
Last night I bought one box of Tula .380 at Walmart for $14.97 and two boxes of WWB 9mm for $26.67 each. They had, and have had for months, a lot of 45 and 40. They had cases of the Tula .223 for $5.27 as well as the Tula 7.62x39 for $5.17. The lady that is there a lot said they got in a lot of 22 on Saturday morning and it was all gone by noon.
I also picked up some milk, bread and fabric softener while I was there.

I have been buying ammo where I can find it during this "shortage". A year ago I just walked into Walmart or the LGS and bought what we would be shooting that afternoon so this ammo situation has been a major inconvenience for me. My ammo stocks are higher on everything I shoot except for 22 and 380. Those two have remained very tight around here. I'll trade you guys 40, 45 and 9 for 22 and 380.

jrdolall:
Roger that, not wanting to lose much sleep to simply buy .22LR, Walmart has decent prices on 7.62x39 for the SKS.

One of our stores seems to have it quite often. Being in a Walmart which is a greater distance from the semi-rural areas than the Walmart which never has any type of ammo (Mother Hubbard's cupboard), this ammo seems less attractive to many.

Inventories appartently picking up in many of the outlets. an interesting point with Walmart in my area is that where one store's shelves may be empty, one across town miight have plenty. I wonder how much leway individual store managers have in ordering their inventory.

You might want to visit Zander Sporting Goods. They are a distributor and sell to retailers. By looking at what they don't have, will give you an idea with todays market. Zanders doesn't even know when they will get shipments as the manufactures have no idea. I am getting another case of Aquila Match Rifle on order January as will then have the cash to give to my LGS. $500.00/cs delivered it will be. I think CCI SV is $400/cs retail. Zanders prices are Retail on their website.

I was in Gander Mountain the other day. They had about any centerfire you could want and no posted limits. No rimfire was on the shelves.
