grains of Clays under a 230grain FMJ. max load listed as 4.0 grains. So far everything went well, we will see at the range!! :) (I may not even get to the higher ones if I'm happy with around 3.7)

How is everything working for you so far? I just got back from being out of town and will try to find that small priming rod for you.

good so far, I figured I'd start with the straight wall cases first, so did some .45 tonight.

cool if you find it, but don't let it bother you if you can't. You already included more than I would have known to ask for!! And all I'm using right now are the large primers anyway.

Thanks again!!

Fun isn't it? I just cranked out my first hundred or so rounds of 9mm..

I wish I had thought ahead like you did and made small batches of different loads.. I got ahead of myself and cranked out 100 at the minimum listed spec. They cycle the pistol, just ;) .. and accuracy is marginal..

BUT I had more fun shooting them than any of the factory loads I've tried so far.

I have since loaded up 10 round batches with progressively more powder (but not to max yet) for some more detailed testing. Can't wait to go shooting again.

:D

Excellent! I too started with 45 ACP not more than a couple months ago. I started with a 5 grain charge of IMR PB behind some 230gr Hornady XTP's. (they were outta full metal's athe time). It sure fills me with pride whne I look at my creations. Course that 100 rounds took quite a while to get loaded, but I'm quicker at it now. :D

Well I just got back from the range, and still have all my fingers, and my 1911 in tact so I guess all went well!! :)

I shot 7 or 8 of each load and can't say I could tell much of a difference by feel between 3.5 grains and 3.9 grains (I even put one on top of the other in a mag to try to tell the difference). I think I'll probably load up a few at around 3.7 for plinking... (I did not really test for accuracy yet).

hopfully one of these days I'll find a place I can shoot outside around here and set up the chrono for a bit more testing, but for now this will do.

I did notice that the clays powder seemed to make more smoke than the S&B or UMC that I shot today also.
