Fiocchi .357 ammunition

I've used Fiocchi 142 gr fmj .357 mag ammo and I liked in my GP100. The Fiocchi web site lists it at 1420 fps for 650 ft-lbs of muzle energy. They also list a 148 gr JHP at 1500 fps for 720 ft-lbs.

Does anyone know a source for this ammo? I've only been able to locate the 142 gr fmj ammo online.

This would appear to be good sd ammo. Any opinions? Has anyone shoot this ammo?

My GP100 also likes the 142 grain Fiocchi--I won the company revolver shoot awhile back using that combo.

You might check with Kieslers Wholesale. They often have Fiocchi in stock. Other than that, I suppose you could check http://www.fiocchiusa.com/
to find a Fiocchi dealer.

Though not a revolver round, I have regularly fed my USP9f with a staple of 115 and 147gr Fiocchi FMJ-HP's. No problems yet and also quite clean-burning.

I also gather that they're hotter than standard, as the 115 gr was advertised at 1250fps. I was able to try a round into an old rolled carpet one time, and I recovered a ncely mushroomed slug with jacket still attached.

I've gotten a couple of boxes at gunshows over the past several years.

Accurate, powerful, and relatively cheap, too. I think I've paid as little as $11 a box for it.

If Fiocchi .357 rounds are as good as its slow .22 long rifle ammunition, it's great stuff. I never see it in gun shops, and can't imagine why: it's generally less expensive than American brands. The slow .22 rounds gave me top reliability and accuracy in three High Standards and a (pre-Snopes Clinton-Liar Gore régime agreement) Smith & Wesson model 41.

This is hearsay, but I've heard it from a couple of sources.

The reason that Fiocchi prices are better AND many gunshops don't carry it is that they don't carry the same level of insurance as other ammo makers.

I can't remember exactly what type of insurance was mentioned, but it had something to do with product liability as I recall.

Sorry I can't be more specific, and remember, this is certainly not confirmed information.

BTW, I've also had very good luck with their 9mm ammunition. It's capable of sub-two inch groups at 25 yards with a good pistol.

I dug out an old article about a 9mm shootout test some years ago which pitted 32 different ammo brands and loadings against each other. Shooting was done with a Beretta 92 in a Ransom Rest. Federal was the winner with Fiocchi coming in third.

Here are the top three finishers.

25 yard 20 (TWENTY) shot groups from a Ransom Rested Beretta 92FS.

1. Federal 9BP (115gr JHP) ----2.306"
2. Geco (123 FMJ)----------------2.665"
3. Fiocchi (115gr FMJ)-----------2.760"

Did I mention those were 20 shot groups???

I tried some of the 148gr jhp thru a taurus 606,ported.It seemed accurate but had a large fireball from the muzzle and thru the ports.FUn to shoot but not something i would carry for self defense.

I really like Fiocchi. It's cheaper than most and has been really clean. I've shot thier .40SW (FMJ and JHP) and their .38.

To find a local store, you can email the distributor for your area. It's found on the fiocchiusa website. Be sure you specify centerfire and the caliber, a lot of places care fiocchi shotgun shells but not handgun ammo.

Online, I bought from sportsman's guide, but also found Dan's ammo. That Outdoor's Center URL doesn't work for me.

I use ficocchi ammo. both the .357 mag 148 grain sjhp's and their shotgun rifled slugs. (which have a see-through case, you can see the slug and engineering of the round). I like it, it's hot for factory loads. I find it in most nearby gun store's in the se mich area.
