    Hit it HARD!

"Universal Background Checks" is the new slang for "closing the gunshow loophole". No matter what they call it, it's still government interference in your private business and could easily become de facto registration.

Just say NO to "universal background checks"

From the Old Dominion. Don't know what District he is from (and don't care) but he got a "No" vote from this gun lover in Suffolk!

Its surprising how many gun owners support this ubc. A number of them members of this forum. Guess they haven't thought it through to good. The only way it could work would be gun registration.

Interesting how these polls always seem to get shut down whenever they "go our way" ain't it?

    Letter to Delegate Patrick Hope:

    Delegate Patrick Hope,

I am a Virginian but I do not live in your district. If you stop reading here that will be a big mistake. I am requesting that you stand firm and stand against HB 2240. Since the Virginia Tech shootings, Virginia already has an effective system in place to check for illegal gun purchases.

I am looking to our State Representatives to protect me from the Federal Government. This is quite the opposite- you're turning over my personal data to them so that it could be used against me at a later time. Is this an unintended consequence or an end-around? It makes no difference. CALL A TIME OUT!

I have read the Bill. I have some MAJOR CONCERNS:

House Bill 2240, sponsored by Delegate John Cosgrove (R-78), is the House companion of S.B. 1299, and would provide that certain criminal history record information and protective order registry information be made available to the federal government for the purposes of determining a person's eligibility to possess a firearm.

I object to the following verbiage regarding providing information to the Attorney General and also Juvenile records information. Once the information leaves the possession of the Virginia agency, we have no control over how the information is used, how it is stored, how long it is stored, etc.

Once this data is sent to the Federal government, there is a high likelihood that it will be indefinitely maintained in a database as part of a gun registry. DO NOT BUY INTO THIS UNDER THE PRETENSE OF INCREASED SAFETY—IT IS A BACK DOOR REGISTRY.

The only reason to register guns it to either Tax them or Take them from law abiding citizens.

DO NOT PARTICIPATE IN THIS THINLY VEILED CHARADE. THE NRA GOT THIS ONE WRONG. I am a life member of the NRA and I vehemently disagree with this and have told them so as a voting member.

Understand that I will do everything in my legal power to stop this horrible bill.

This includes very actively campaigning against you and donating to those that are running against you if necessary.

    Believe it.

I will absolutely take any action against my liberties into serious consideration at election time and I will urge all my family and friends to do the same.

I will not tolerate this all-out assault on my 2nd Amendment Liberties--

SB 1001, a bill to close the non-existent "gun show loophole" was killed in committee on January 23. It is dead for this year.
