I generally carry a weapon when I travel, my only normal exception is when I work I work at the pentagon or a military installations. However, I am doing some work next week at fort Gordon in Augusta Georgia and I realize that I cannot carry as a civilian contractor on a military base, but fort gordon has a great shooting range open to both military and civilians what I would like to use while I am there. The range is closed now, but I will call them on tuesday when they re-open, but do any of you know if there is any way I can have my weapons stored at the MP station, or something similar? It seems silly to drive all the way to ft gordon, only to have to leave when I am done, go back to my hotel and then drive back to gordon to go shooting. Anyway, there probably isnt a way around this, but I figured I would ask just for the heck of it.

Call the PMO's (Provost Marshall's Office) desk sergeant (706) 791-2681/4380. They should be able to tell how to store the weapons on post during working hours, if possible.

Contact PMO. Most bases allow you to carry an unloaded firearm in your vehicle provided it is accompanied with a letter from PMO.
