I already have a couple 6.5 PRCs as well as 300 PRCs for long range target shooting. I suppose the 7 PRC fit the spots between the 6.5 and 300 PRCs bullet weight wise, but I'm not sure I really have a need for it. The 6.5 PRC is decent out to 1500 yards for me. I'd have to make a special trip to find a range longer than that and would probably just use a 300 PRC if I did.

I don't hunt anything bigger than whitetails so I'm not sure I would ever have a good use for a 7 PRC. It seems to be geared at replacing the 7 Rem Mag (which I don't have) as a long range hunting cartridge. What do those of y'all who intend to get one plan to use it for? If you can convince me of a need for it I'll certainly comply and get one. Same for the 6.8 Western, but I live in Texas and doubt I'll ever hunt elk or moose or go to Africa either.

That's cheaper then most of the 308 win ammo I seen today, I'd be happy to find 6.5 prc for that much it's cheaper then what I can load from New for.
54.99 is CHEAPER than 308? Yikes... I'm sorry... And yeah 6.5 PRC seems to be about that much IF it's in stock. Academy has had the same 4 or 5 boxes of Norma 6.5 PRC for 50 a box for like a month lol.

OUCH! I’m finding PMC and cheap Winchester for less than $30 a box for 308. Precision Hunter for $44. On the bright side, 30-378 wby was on clearance for $139 for 20.
I have yet to see any 7 PRC ammo anywhere. 6.5!is showing up and the price is reasonable. Scheels did have lapua brass for $139 per 100

Was that price for 6.5 PRC Lapua brass?! Cause dang I'll have to go on their website and buy a couple boxes.

Website is showing 159 for 6.5 PRC. In Store was cheaper. 308 Nosler brass was cheapest I’ve seen on their website the other day.
(Edit: 308 Winchester. Nosler brand. Being picky)

Yeah I just looked and 159 is the cheapest I've seen it online! Hmm I will have to look into getting another box at that price for sure... Darn enablers... ;)

Do you WANT one?
Yes? Then yea it will do something for you
If not, no it wont:D

I’m thinking a 7mm PRC might be another project build. I’ve successfully built Remages in .22-250 AI, .243 AI, and .260 AI. I have no need for a 7mm PRC, but it could be a fun project. We’ll see …

Getting actions for a reasonable cost has become a pain an the wallet for me of late, but that was originally my intention too.
Maybe if I get a 7prc I'll build swap barrel set.....a 6mm prc, 7mm PRC, and 375 Ruger.....that would be kinda cool

Im going to try one for sure.....dont know when tho, Ill need to be able to source brass first.

If I can get a Go Wild in 7PRC thats likely to be the path i go.....unless the Cascade comes in 7PRC

Good news on the brass front, I emailed Petersen, Starline and ADG about 7mm PRC brass.

Petersen responded and said they they had just completed their first small Alpha run of brass and I went well, so the first full batch is scheduled for Q3 release.

ADG responded and said they are planning to ship a batch to dealers in Q4, gave me a list of their dealers and suggested that I get on some wait lists.

So even though Hornady is dropping the brass ball on the 7 PRC release, it seems there's enough interest for some of the other players to be spinning up production.

That's good to hear! My FFL buddy keeps poking me with deals on the 7PRCs that come through his email.
I might go ahead and order one come summer.
