Just the first of many to come. Over the next year I am sure we will see throphy shots of supposed arsenals lined up on the suspects lawns.

Janet Reno will be proud again...
 
i love how it says an "ak 47 ASSAULT RIFLE" when have you seen the word ak47 not followed by "assault rifle"
 
Come on guys, every socially responsible person knows that inanimate objects make people do terrible things.

A lot of people use bolt cutters for crimes. I'd say that makes bolt cutters a specialized criminal tool. There should be a licensing and permitting system for bolt cutters, chainsaws, and all other power tools, because only trained professionals in service of the state are responsible enough to own them. Then crime would go down...right? :banghead:
 
Actually if it was the report from Austin tx, the news report I heard was that he had a bullet proof vest AND an ak47 assult rifle, THE most dangerous rifle in the world. Probably not exact wording but it's pretty damn close.
 
And I can't remember how many times I've heard the term "high powered assault rifle". :cuss: Idiots!

A typical lever action 30-30 has more power than any 7.62x39 or 5.56 but you never hear folks refer to it as high power.

Misinformation is rampant anymore.
 
Instead of being pedantic about terms like "assault rifle" and "high-powered," wouldn't it be more productive to focus on the fact that violent criminals are going to be violent criminals anyway no matter what tools they use and that firearms in the right hands can be and are used many times to forestall violent crime. Pedantry turns people off.
 
It is far more productive to use facts to confront people over criminal use of AWs.

So, you might point out that the high capacity and great power of AWs are so attractive to criminals that they result in the huge 2% of homicides each year as compared to the low power and unattractive (to criminals) handguns which are only used in 68% of homicides.

You'll have to find the actual percentages -- the numbers I've quoted are nominally correct, but I've not bothered to determine the current usages.

While the FBI doesn't report AW use as a category, Chicago reports homicide by caliber of bullet, so you should be able to deduce an upper limit to the number of rifle AWs that are used at least in Chicago. I'll bet there are other jurisdictions that report similarly and I've seen some FBI reports with caliber of bullet data for homicides.
 
I say leave them think, for now, the AK is "The most dangerous rifle in the world " it only exposes “there” ignorance to the rest of us, who have bothered to learn about guns, and takes attention from the .50 cal TMS episode going on.

My best wishes and prayers go to those involved in the Texas Motor Speedway accident. If you don’t know about it please take some time and learn about it. This is sure to come up again and again on many anti gun dance cards.

Just for the record, not so. They are just about equal. Check out the 154 grain soft point by Wolf and the 150 grain soft point by Corbon.
