First AR Assembly... Need Advice.

I looked all over the upper and didn't see a forge mark. Could it be somewhere I'm missing?
Also looked at various websites that show the upper I bought. None of the photos show a visible forge mark. Aero claims to use Anchor Harvey and Brass Aluminum Forging Enterprises?
Just FYI... my M and P Sport has a forge mark.

The forging companies make the forging. They don’t machine the lower.

Aero Precision makes good quality parts and products, out of quality forgings. The lack of a forge mark indicates the forge didn’t mark it, not that it’s from China.

The difference between the two receivers, LMT puts $128 worth more quality control into theirs. Throwing out blems, changing tooling more often. Measuring more than once creates cost, labor is still the most expensive commodity.

Springfield Armory uses 6065 aluminum billet for their handguards and lowers.
Let the nashing commence.

No, but let me ask.. are you using the Aero M4E Upper? Aero is grinding the Forge Marks from them. And also if it a Billet, there are no marks because it’s not Forged, just machined. The Forge Mark is always at the Right Rear upper portion. Like in the photos. For MilSpec Uppers, there are only a few. There actually used to more than now. Because as mentioned earlier, Lewis Machine USED to have them Forged with an “L” mark, but no longer. Colt USED to Forge their own with a “C” mark, but no more. Again, I posted the list. But they simply aren’t seen any longer. Almost 100% of manufacturers are using those I’ve outlined. The “Splinteted A”, the “Square” & the “Keyhole”

If you have this upper, your fine. They are likely using forgings from Anchor Harvey.

Yes, it's the M4E1 upper. It was a complete upper, minus BCG and charging handle. Product code is APAR700705M7. Thanks for your information.

The M4E1 reciever is made from a larger forging. Every bit of it is machined afterwards. No original forging surface is left, thus, no mark.

From their FAQ page…

Q. What brand of forgings do you use?
A. We use several different sources but our forgings are primarily from Anchor Harvey and Brass Aluminum Forging Enterprises. We have found both of them to offer the highest quality forgings. Due to fluctuations in demand and forging availability, this may change. However, Aero Precision promises to always source high quality forgings from trusted suppliers made in the USA.

Aero also utilizes “custom forgings” for some of their uppers, such as their non-FA uppers, which also do not include forge marks.

The list of Foundries is largely losing relevance in the modern era. Way too many deviations from the old “tHeRe arE oNly LiKe tEn FoRgeS” game.

Ok, that explains it then. You’re all good. Yes, they are quality Uppers made by BOTH those Forging manufacturers. Forged 7075 Aluminum to MilSpec tolerances. Just more machined lines is all.
