I learned to load on .44 special for my Ruger RedHawk. Lyman T Mag turret press, rcbs little dandy powder measure, 1 load. 6 grains of Unique, 240 grain swc

guy at the gun shop set everything up and demonstrated how to reload. At that point I was hooked

The day I turned 21 I went to the LGS and bought a 7½" NM Blackhawk in 45 Colt. When the two boxes of cartridges cost 1/3 the price of the revolver, I said I gotta reload.

I reloaded 20 ga with a Lee Loader (aka whackamole) when I was a teen ager in Mid 1960s. We used REM plastic hulls and an overshot card sealed with glycerine. My uncle got me into it.

First metallic cartridge was 30.06 for my REM 760 in 1976 I have never purchased factory loads since!

I've pulled the lever on a lot of cases as a kid under my dad's tutelage but I'm not going to claim that. My very own firsts cartridge was 9mm. It was my primary fun and sd caliber so I filled that need first. Haven't loaded it in over two years now but I have everything I need.

45 ACP on a Lee Challenger kit that cost $79.00
Even though I have progressed to a Forster Co-Ax and other presses, that Lee Challenger press still has a place on my bench.

9mm on a Lee single stage press and pawn shop dies. It started a love hate relationship with CFE Pistol. I loved it, then hated it, and now love it again.

The first was 243 on my C&H C press followed closely by 222 Rem. That was back in 1966

I started out hand loading shotshells with MEC loading equipment.
I progressed from that to pistol calibers. I had a Ruger Single Six in .32 H & R magnum. Ammo wasn't plentiful and was pretty expensive for me & I was pretty conservative in using it. Started out with a Lee Challenger Breech Lock Single Stage kit and .32 H & R magnum dies. It all worked so well, I quickly added dies for .38spl/.357 magnum and then to .44spl/.44 magnum. Now I also do 9mm, .243 Winchester, and .45-70.
I still do all my center fire reloading with Lee dies and the Lee Challenger Breech Lock kit that I started out with.

The first cartridge that I reloaded was 243 Winchester. In 1963 I purchased a Remington 700 .243 W, along with a 4X Redfield scope and mounts and a box of ammo. As I remember the total price was $134.
