First centerfire rifle experience

See this thread to learn how I acquired this rifle at a "discount price."

It's been sitting around, and since been topped with a Sightron S2 4-16x42 to replace the POS Simmons it came with. I finally got a card a the local range (Wake FETC for you Raleigh-ites) and went back tonight to shoot. Did 16 rounds worth of break-in, got it shooting roughly to POA at 50 yards, and then started grouping the five different loads I'd bought at 100 yards. Best groups were 1.5" with Goergia Arms 145gr Speer Grand Slam and Federal Premium 150gr Sierra GameKing (photo).

Now I just gotta go back and get sighted in with my load of choice, and work on my shooting. I know I can group better with some practice. Oh, and after 40 rounds of 7mm Rem Mag, my shoulder hurts. :)

Got one word for an immediate response: Niiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiice :D . As for backdrop, IIRC Preacherman uses red felt behind his armaments, and it has that "elegant" look to it. Look up some of his pictures in the handgun forums, you'll get an idea. But, you're better off than I--I have no pictures of my arms :banghead: . Nice skull in the pic, too.
 
Well, I suppose I could fab up a backdrop- when I wrote that, I was just wishing I could find enough bare wall to get rid of distracting stuff in the background. There's far too much crap in our apartment for that to happen... I did try to blur out the background in Photoshop to give a sort of artificial narrow-depth-of-field effect- but it didn't work out too well, so I left it alone.
 
So, is this truly your "first" centerfire rifle that you own, as is stated in the thread title? If it is, prepare to get "rifle-itis" :D . SKS, AK, MN 91/30, Mausers--there's so much out there, and so little time :p
 
Yep, first one. I've already got a list of others I want- most are battle rifles. Of course, everyone should own a Garand or three, and I'm no exception. A Springfield would be nice as well, and maybe a Mauser and a Mosin-Nagant. Oh, and I definitely want an AR...

Hell with it, gimme one of everything. :evil:
 
Well, I've shot plenty of rimfire, so it was just a matter of applying what I already knew and making sure I applied it in spite of the blow to the shoulder I knew I was about to get. Once I started seeing the muzzle flash through the scope, I knew I was doing OK at not anticipating. But I appreciate the kudos.
