Though I’d share my thoughts on this recently acquired Swarovski Z6i 3-18x50

First, there’s no rational reason to spend this much on a hunting scope, but the glass quality makes you almost believe it’s worth it (and I include the few nights I had to sleep in the dog house after the credit card bill hit the mail box)

The glass really lives up to it’s reputation.

I took this pic at 5:30 last night. Though the cell phone doesn’t do it justice, you get a sense of how much light it gathers in late evening hunting conditions (apologies to the neighbors)

There are a lot of features that come with the scope, including a customizable ballistics turret that allows you to pre set 3 different distances based on your load.

Clicks are graduated on a metric system 1 CM at 100 M (between 1/4 and 1/2 MOA) When I sat down last night to customize the settings I thought I might have to do a bunch of math to convert to yards. Luckily it was a simple selection in my ballistics app and it did the conversion for me.

There’s a day/night brightness selection for the illuminated dot and the the dot has a motion sensor that turns on when the rifle moves and turns off when not in use or at an upright angel like you would store it in a gun safe.

It’s really an amazing mix of technology and craftsmanship.

I should also mention the rings. I chose ARC M10 rings, which I also use on my target rifle. For me, they’re one of the best and it was an easy decision to buy them again.

List price runs around $2,600 and I got it for $2,200 from Sport Optics. I still cringe when I think about the cost and I’m still getting the stink eye from the wife but both will pass as I get a little time and distance behind me.

congrats man! i predict you're right, you'll love that scope for a long time. i've had a z6i 1-6x since they came out many years ago. absolutely love it. the glass is truly incredible as far as brightness and clarity go. the setup is especially nice because the ocular is large and makes it seem like you're seeing huge fov and not seeing the scope at all. kind of a big screen effect.

the controls on top of the ocular for yours look much improved over the early version mine has, which is hella annoying.
their reticle selection has also improved since i bought mine.

I'm sure the picture looking through the scope doesn't do it justice, but that looks pretty impressive to me. Glad that you can afford it, because based on your posts you are an avid shooter who can take advantage of such a nice piece. Like you I would have serious reservations being that the turrets are in cm, not sure if I could get passed that.

Congratulations, that has got to be the pinnacle when it comes to hunting optics. My late gunsmith was a Swaro dealer and I spent some very enjoyable time glassing fields with their binoculars. Fantastic optics and beautifully packaged. Well worth a few glares for a lifetime combo like that and I discovered a few diamonds and a week in the Caribbean somehow dissipate such situations.

since you brought it up in the other thread, i'm curious how this scope is holding up. i finally parted with my old z6i 1-6x in favor of nf 1-8s but i kinda miss the glass

@Nature Boy would you buy this scope again knowing what you know now?

Hunted with it every season for the last 4 years and it’s still great. It gets a lot of range time too since I’m always developing new loads.

I’d buy it again, without hesitation

Congrats on the Swaro. I actually think they're a good buy. Excellent glass and very easy to live with. If you consider what some are willing to spend on a 10x LPVO, your purchase decision was a good one.
