First Pistol

I managed to pick up an excellent condition Pa-63 at the Orlando show today; my very first pistol!

Sure, it's not the prettiest nor is it the most powerful. It's neither the best known or distinctive. Still, I'm very excited to have it since it seems to meet my requirements: something fun, small-ish, easy to maintain, and just plain exisiting. Anyways, just thought I'd put the news on here since I couldn't find a better place to put it.

Hey, as long as it functions well and you're happy with it....enjoy. The 9x18mm isn't a bad cartridge at all. Just a little harder to find good quality ammo that's all. BTW, I live just north of Palm Coast.

.45 ACP: Minimal Stopper

All this influx of NEW .380 Auto fare, with supposed firepower prowess eludes me. These are STOP if lucky ladies' purse fare. Even 9mm Parabellum holds dubious stopping power. My slight-sized daughter opted for a .44 Magnum over anything weaker. NO! don't start your daughter with a kicker, but she will work up to it amazingly quickly. Anyone can handle a .45 ACP with lessons, after learning how to handle a .22 LR pistol. cliffy

Not everyone wants to carry a few pounds on them at any given time. This means that a gun wont be available when needed. A 9 * 18 is not a weakling, and with seven rounds to go with you're going to be fine.


Shoot a few boxes out of it to make sure it's reliable, much more important than having a cannon that fails.

Congrats on the '63! I have one, it's a nice little pistol. Ammo is hard to find, I always bought mine on-line from AIM Surplus, the Russian Silver Bear.

You can also trim down regular 9mm Luger brass by 1mm, and handload your own ammo for it, but you have to get the correct bullets, they're just a tad larger than 9mm Luger.

You'll find it's a hard-kicking little beast, but Wolff offers a set of replacement springs for them that will tame it down considerably.
