First Sig

Went to a gun shop yesterday just to look around and ended up buying a Sig P220. Gun just felt great in my hands. Don't think I got a good deal though,I could only talk the guy down to 700.00.

Bought a gun just like a week and a half ago so I am going to be waiting a while before I can pick up my Sig. I am excited to get it.

Did I get a good gun? I have heard a lot of good things about it. I am thinking about getting another Sig next month. I like the looks of that new 226 with the rail but I am also interested in the 229 in 357sig. Any opinions out there?

As long as the gun fits, you can't go wrong with a Sig. Fantastic guns. I think the P220 stands out among Sig's impressive line up. One of the best .45s and best handguns out there. Too bad they are too large for my short fingers =/.

The 229-357 is one of my favorite handguns. When I can find a 226 in 357 with rails I'm going to get one of those too.

Yeah I have heard that the 220 was too large for some people but it fits me pretty well.

I was interested in the 220ST and the guy at the shop said he could order it but there aren't many around and it would take a couple of months to get it. I just didn't want to wait that long. I think I will be happy with the regular 220.

I am sure that it is much more accurate than I am.

I am going to beat Ala Dan to this puch and say you got one of the finest .45 caliber handguns ever to be created.

In short you got a good gun and then some.

Enjoy it. Barring any bizzarre out of the ordinary production screwups your gun should be just about flawless. From my experience SIGs line of handguns are the most reliable mass produced handguns made. My SIGs have all been 100% reliable so far, no malfunctions yet.

I bet the waiting is just killing you. Go buy some ammo to take the edge off.

No...just my poor attempt at humor & sarcasm Referring to 1 every 30 days or a limit of 12 new handguns per year. So, a state imposed quota of 12 new handguns per CA resident per year.

You could get yourself a Sig 245 .45 and a Sig 239 in 9mm, .40 or .357. Then you'd be the king of the single-stack Sigs!

No. You got a GREAT gun. There are a lot of good guns out there, but SIG is in a class by itself, like Rolls Royce.

Congratulations on the purchase of one of the finest pistols available to mortals! I just recently came "back" to the P220 after a 3-year love affair with 1911's. I love ol' slabsides, but my goodness, the P220 is, as many have said, "just about perfect out of the box". Mine came with the k-cote finish, which some lament, but to me it seems much more durable than the factory blueing. Mine locks up like the proverbial bank vault, and shoots right to point of aim with a 6 o'clock hold.

If it wasn't for the fact that I simply can't stand the DA/SA trigger transition, I would be a SIG man. The P220 is the best of the bunch.

If you like .45s you will love the 220, and that price is not bad , I see them for $650- $725 in NY.

$700 is around what I've seen them for, although there was a new one at the recent gun show for $600, all of the others were $670-$700. Prices for everything in Portland OR are often higher than other places in the US though. I should have got it, huh? Maybe next month.

I bought my Tu-Tone P220 for $599, just before the price increase imposed by the new ownership.

The price you paid isn't that bad for a new SIG Sauer right now, and you got a hell of a gun in the deal!

I have a 220 in .45 and a 239 in .40 (my carry gun). Sig makes the best. If trigger reach is too long (especially on doublestacks) Sig makes a "short" trigger. I've had them installed in 229's I've had in the past. The gunsmith I use reshapes the existing trigger and has it refinished in Black T. If I can find a decent used 228 thats my next gun.

hell yes the waiting is killing me and it has only been one day. If I go and buy ammo for it, it will just get worse methinks.

I was going to save my money and wait for another check and get a nice 1911. I talked to Mr. Jardine over at valtro and he says he will send a piece over to one of the local gun shops. 1499.00 and one can be mine.

I just had to buy that sig though. I guess I can save some more and get the valtro next month or the month after.

Hey, what are some modifications that I might want to get done on the Sig.

Oh, by the way, the shop where I got the Sig had three brand new browning hi-powers on the shelf. I never see hi-powers and to see three in one place

yeah I have seen the sport. It does look really cool but it is a little too big for me. I am, however, interested in the 220st if I can find a shop that has one. I don't really want to order it and wait a couple of months

Other than night sights and grips, there aren't that many modifications SIG owners get into. People with smaller hands may benefit from the 'short trigger,' a SIG factory part that shortens up the trigger reach.

I just picked up my first SIG, too, a lightly-used P239 in .40, about a week ago. I have yet to take this baby to the range, but I have no doubt I'll be thoroughly impressed!

I wanted something a little smaller and lighter than the Kimber 1911 I normally carry, and this SIG felt just perfect. And at $429 I think I got a fairly good deal for a pistol that doesn't appear to have been fired or handled very much.
